This odd mascot means a lot to me. If you ever watched the "Predator" movie it was clear that the "predators" didn't consider it sporting to attack weaker victims like pregnant women. However, it seems like our enemy (the devil) relentlessly attacks the most vulnerable. In the Exodus story the Hebrew midwives obtained a blessing when they didn't help kill the baby boys but instead told Pharaoh that the Hebrew women gave birth too quickly for them to get there in time to kill their babies. Moses followed. Raised in Pharaoh's household, he was used by God to deliver his people from bondage. Fast forward to the time of Jesus' birth and you still have an evil ruler trying to end a perceived threat to his authority by killing babies. Jesus' ministry and his death and resurrection followed. Are we getting the picture yet? According to 1 Corinthians 1:27 (2nd part) "God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty." A " running baby" as a mascot?? Why not, "with God all things are possible" . Our children are our future and I believe God can do great things in and through them. The seemingly relentless assault upon them (and us) will only make us stronger when God is at work in US through His Son.
