Yet another claim: Psychology Today: ‘Rising Temperatures Could Worsen Mental Health’

Psychology Today: Rising Temperatures Could Worsen Mental Health.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/brainstorm/201811/rising-temperatures-could-worsen-mental-health

Hotter temperatures, more frequent hurricanes, and added precipitation are all associated with an increased prevalence of mental health challenges in the U.S., a recent study finds—and experts warn that the problem is likely to get worse as the climate continues to warm.

Using data provided by a randomly selected sample of more than two million U.S. residents in the years from 2000 to 2012, the study found that an increase in average maximum temperatures of 1 degree Celsius over a five-year period was associated with a 2 percent increase in the prevalence of self-reported mental health issues. Average monthly highs that shifted from below 30 degrees Celsius (about 86 degrees Fahrenheit) to above that mark corresponded with a half-a-percentage increase in self-reported mental health challenges in those locations.

Across the entire U.S. population, the authors write, that would translate to almost 2 million additional people likely experiencing poor mental health in months with average temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius—a scenario already projected to happen with greater frequency across large swaths of the country each year.

A wetter climate also appeared to exacerbate mental health problems. Months with more than 25 days of precipitation were associated with a 2 percent increase in reported stress and depression relative to months with fewer wet days. Exposure to Hurricane Katrina, the most significant hurricane during the period captured in the data, was linked to a 4 percent increase in mental health problems. Low-income respondents—and particularly low-income women—were significantly more likely to report worsened mental health when temperatures were higher than 30 degrees Celsius.

The mental health data came from the CDC’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System survey, which asked participants to assess how often their mental health—specifically with regard to stress, depression, or “problems with emotions”—had been “not good” over the previous 30 days. This data was cross-referenced with climate data from PRISM Climate Group at Oregon State University as well as other sources.

Iraq ‘Refugee’ Arrested For Making Bombs In Las Vegas

A refugee living in the United States from Iraq has been charged with making bombs in Las Vegas, and reportedly teaching undercover FBI agents how to make and detonate them.

Ahmad Suhad Ahmad lived in Arizona but was arrested after a two year undercover sting.

The refugee, here at the mercy of the United States and living in Arizona, built two bombs in a Las Vegas condo, which were meant for a terrorist attack Ahmad was planning.

Ahmad said the bombs “were easy to make,” according to court filings and apparently showed the agents how the detonate them using a cell phone. Ahmad said he learned it while in Iraq during the Iraq war.

According to reports, the Iraqi was given refuge in the US aver a decade ago (Thanks, Obama).

Breitbart News reported that “between 2012 and 2016, 72,794 foreign nationals have come to the U.S. on the Visa Lottery program from countries that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency has designated as terrorist-sponsors.”

The Diversity Visa Lottery program gives out 50,000 visas every year to foreign nationals, including terrorist nations like Afghanistan, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Syria, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Yemen, and Uzbekistan.

“In 2016 alone, more than 15,600 foreign nationals entered the U.S. from terrorist-sponsored countries. Those countries include Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Somalia, Syria, and Algeria.”

Ahmad is not the first supposedly ‘helpless and poor’ refugee to be arrested on terrorism charges, and he is the third Iraqi to be charged with trying to kill others.

“In August, a 45-year-old refugee from Iraq Omar Ameen was arrested for allegedly murdering a man in Iraq on behalf of the Islamic State. That same month, 31-year-old Iraqi refugee Karrar Noaman Al Khammasi was arrested after allegedly attempting to murder Colorado police officer Cem Duzel.”

Of course, according to the leftist media and many democrats, trying to stem the tide of so-called refugees from these terror nations is somehow ‘racist.’

Flashback 1971: A severe year of extreme weather during the ‘global cooling’ era

For many years now, the public have refused to be scared by slightly higher temperatures, so the threat of what used to be called “bad weather” has been wheeled out to alarm everyone.

Floods, droughts, cold, heat, storms, wildfires. They’re all supposedly getting worse, and we’re left in no doubt of the reason.

The fact that every event they cite is in no way unprecedented does not stop their weaponising of weather, or the gullible media from amplifying it. They rely on a ceaseless bombardment to persuade people that things must be getting worse.

OK, we’ve had all of these events before, but never this many, so the argument goes. It’s a bit like Whack-A-Mole – you knock down one attack, and three more appear.

My very first foray into climate blogging was an analysis of extreme weather events in 1971. (I wrote it in 2011, so it was not a cherrypicked year, merely a nice round 40 years before.)

I won’t bore you with it again, as it was basically just a very long list. You can see it here though.

But here is a summary, which goes to show that extreme weather is the norm, not the exception:

The Menace Of Macron’s Misguided European Army Idea

My first reaction when French President Emmanuel Macron said this week that the European Union needed its own army to defend against potential adversaries — including the United States — was to suggest he go to Normandy and ask the 9,000 dead Americans there who saved France, for the second time, what they thought about the idea. But, I’m sure he won’t do that.

The governments of France, Germany, Sweden and others obviously don’t really care about the well-being and security of their own peoples. If that had been the true priority for these globalist politicians, then they would not have admitted millions of economic migrants from North Africa and the Middle East to undermine the culture and safety of Western Europe.

The “European Army” is simply another vehicle to take sovereignty away from the people and give it to the bureaucrats in Brussels. What is a country if it has delegated the ability to defend itself to someone else? Obviously these nations can’t support two militaries. So, the European Army will have to be drawn from existing forces.

I know one thing for sure: If I were a citizen of Italy or Greece, say, I sure wouldn’t want to depend on Brussels to protect my borders and prevent invasions of migrants or anyone else.

The European Union is a globalist dream, one that very nearly came to the United States under President Obama. The last thing the sovereign countries of the EU need is to be threatened with the leviathan of an armed force controlled by Brussels and not by their own, democratically elected leaders.

If Europe is going to survive, it needs a whole lot more nationalism and a whole lot less globalism. Europe should kill Mr. Macron’s army idea before the liberals get too excited about the possibilities.

Dem Rep. Linda Sanchez’s Husband Indicted on Stealing Fed Funds, Drops Leadership Bid

Democratic representative Linda Sanchez (Calif.) has pulled out of the race to head the House Democratic Caucus after her husband was indicted on federal criminal charges.

Sanchez's husband, James Sullivan, allegedly misused federal funds for the likes of expensing trips to the Kentucky Derby and to Key West, Fla., Politico reports.

"Earlier today, I learned that my husband is facing charges in Connecticut," Sanchez said yesterday. "After careful consideration of the time and energy being in leadership demands, I have decided that my focus now needs to be on my son, my family, and my constituents in California."

Sanchez's husband was one of five individuals with ties to a Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Corporation that steered more than $800,000 in funds to personal trips without the board voting or approval from member towns, which is required.

A second indictment alleged that Sanchez's husband marked personal expenses on his corporate expense reports that were ultimately approved by Drew Rankin, another individual who is listed in the first indictment.

For the personal expenses, Sullivan billed the corporation for travel that included trips for his family to the Kentucky Derby between 2013 and 2015. That indictment additionally said that Sullivan billed for airfare for Rep. Sanchez to Key West in late 2014, Roll Call reports.

"CMEEC has received millions of dollars in grants from the U.S. Department of Energy," U.S. Attorney John H. Durham said on the matter. "Instead of protecting these funds and returning excess revenue to member towns and ratepayers, these defendants are alleged to have used the CMEEC Margin Account as a secret slush fund to pay for lavish junkets for themselves and their family and friends, as well as for other inappropriate expenses."

Judicial Watch Sues DOJ for Records of Investigations into the Awan Brothers, Congressional Democrat IT Scandal

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch announced today that it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Justice Department for all records of communications relating to the investigation into former Democratic information technology (IT) staffers Abid Awan, Imran Awan, Jamal Awan and Hina R. Alvi (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:18-cv-02563)).

Imran Awan and his family were banned from the House computer network in February 2017 after the House’s top law enforcement officer wrote that Imran is “an ongoing and serious risk to the House of Representatives, possibly threatening the integrity of our information systems,” and that a server containing evidence had gone “missing.” The inspector general said server logs showed “unauthorized access” and procurement records were falsified.

Imran Awan was Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s top information technology aide. Most lawmakers fired Awan in February, but Wasserman Schultz kept him on until he was arrested in July, trying to board a flight for Pakistan.

Imran Awan was allowed a plea deal. He pleaded guilty to federal bank fraud but prosecutors found no evidence that Awan “violated federal law with respect to the House computer systems.”

The Judicial Watch lawsuit was filed after the FBI failed to respond adequately to two FOIA requests.

The FBI claimed it could neither confirm nor deny records related to the first request, filed on May 26, 2017, seeking:

All records related to any investigations or preliminary investigations involving former congressional IT support staffers Abid Awan, Imran Awan, Jamal Awan, and Hina R. Alvi. As part of this request, searches should of records [sic] should include, but not be limited to, the FBI automated indices, its older manual indices, and its Electronic Surveillance (ELSUR) Data Management System (EDMS), as well as cross-referenced files.

All records of communication sent to or from FBI employees, officials or contractors involving the subjects in bullet item 1.

The timeframe for the requested records is May 2015 to the present.

Bank Of England Refuses To Release Venezuela's Gold

Three days ago, when we reported that following Trump's latest sanctions targeting Venezuela's gold sector president Maduro was seeking to repatriate all of Venezuela's gold - some 14 tons - held at the Bank of England, we cautioned that since the BoE "sought to clarify what Venezuela wants to do with the gold", this suggested that despite Venezuela being the rightful owner of this gold, Venezuela was about to face challenges in getting it back.

Today, the worst case - for Venezuela's president - was confirmed, when the Times reported that the Bank of England has "refused to release the gold bars" worth just over $550 million to President Nicolas Maduro.

According to the Times, the reason the BoE has refused release is due to its insistence that standard measures to prevent money-laundering be taken — "including clarification of the Venezuelan government’s intentions for the gold."

“There are concerns that Mr. Maduro may seize the gold, which is owned by the state, and sell it for personal gain,” the newspaper said.

Separately, as we reported on Monday, an official told Reuters that the repatriation plan has been held up for nearly two months due to difficulty in obtaining insurance for the shipment, needed to move a large gold cargo: “They are still trying to find insurance coverage, because the costs are high,” an official told Reuters.

Toxicology scientist documents fraud in Nobel award for "Linear No Threshold" toxicity model

Fraudulent science behind radiation regulations

The 2018 elections underscore the need for bipartisan efforts to address scientific frauds that promote and justify ever more stringent regulations—often to the great detriment of people, patients and society.

In fact, world-renowned toxicology expert Dr. Edward Calabrese has now discovered and documented fraud behind the award of the 1946 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine. The prize was given to Hermann Muller for his claimed discovery that even small or infinitesimal amounts of radiation can cause cancer. It is the ridiculous assertion that there is no threshold below which any kind of radiation is safe.

Toxicologists have long used actual experiments to establish dose response models

By contrast, toxicologists have long used actual experiments to establish dose response models and determine what exposure to various kinds of radiation (or chemicals) actually pose cancer (or other) risks for humans.

Low doses are generally benign, they have found. In many cases, low doses even help animals and humans ward off disease, safeguard bodies against certain chemicals or diseases, or actually cure cancer and other diseases. Higher doses can cause problems, and therefore must be calculated and regulated.

For example, via a process called hormesis, low levels of radon exposure can protect against cancer; 80 milligrams of aspirin are thought to prevent strokes; and trace amounts of selenium help our bodies counteract the harmful effects of mercury in our blood.

However, despite this evidence, government agencies like the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have followed Muller’s straight-line Linear No Threshold (LNT) model for decades. Besides giving rise to what many say are overly restrictive and even unnecessary regulations, the LNT model has actually harmed patients, by greatly precluding the use of radiation in curative medicine.

But now University of Massachusetts at Amherst health sciences professor Calabrese has documented LNT fraud—through an exhaustive review of communications that began July 22, 1927 in the journal Science, where Muller first put forth the claim that any amount of radiation causes cancer. Calabrese lays out his findings in an October 2018 analysis in the Philosophy, Ethics and Humanities in Medicine journal.

Calabrese has spent years investigating Muller’s claims. His story unfolds like a detective novel with all the characters who played intentional or inadvertent roles in the deception indicted by their written and published communications 90 years ago. There are 34 documents in all.

Scientists worldwide quickly and uncritically came to believe that Muller actually had produced gene mutations
