Tracy Beanz has an interesting thread on Matthew Whitaker. He was President/Director of FACT - Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (watchdog group like Judicial Watch).
From October 2014 to September 2017, Whitaker was the executive director of the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT),[26] and the organization's only full-time employee in 2015 and 2016.[27] FACT, founded in late 2014, is a conservative nonprofit organization specializing in legal and ethical issues related to politics.[28][29] The Washington Post reported in February 2015 that "The group is backed by $1 million in seed money from donors who support conservative legal causes", and that Whitaker had declined to identify the donors.[30] According to the organization's first tax return, its funding — $600,000 in 2014 - came from a conservative donor-advised fund called DonorsTrust, a pass-through vehicle that allows donors to remain anonymous.[31]
During Whitaker's tenure at FACT, the organization had a special focus on the Hillary Clinton e-mail controversy and perceived favoritism in the business dealings of Clinton.[32] While the head of FACT, Whitaker wrote opinion pieces that appeared in USA Today and the Washington Examiner, and appeared regularly on conservative talk-radio shows and cable news.[33] For four months, from June to September 2017, he was a CNN contributor.[34] Whitaker aspired to become a judge in Iowa, and hoped his media appearances would catch the eye of the Trump administration.[11] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Whitaker_(attorney)

After that, he went on to be the President and director of an organization called FACT- (a point left out of his wikipedia bio) and he occupied this position from 2014/15 through 2017 when he was brought in to work with Sessions that September.
