Walker and Darden are just HRC's point men on this.
Of course they are backed up by most of academia. With some notable exceptions among Japanese universities, which have some pretty aggressive cold fusion programs.
Very telling how Andrea Rossi was losing his lawsuit against Darden/Cherokee during the final months of the Obama admin and then right was taking the Oath of Office, voila, it was settled and basically in Rossi's favor.
Trump is supporting coal for the time being as we are still in the pre-mass-arrest era and CF is a 100,000ft technology for most scientists. However I do expect CF to make big, quick strides once the cabal is arrested/executed.
Other countries can refuse to develop CF if they still want to serve the cabal, but in that case the USA would be in a position to sell CF plants to them with little competition.
