Yeah, you have to figure they discussed this quite some time ago. POTUS and Sessions had to plan out when the best time for "The Hammer" to drop was. Sessions can't prosecute anything if he was a target of FISA. If anything is obvious is that every step is deliberate when looking from the outside.
BTW, worth noting that if I'm right about Sessions being targeted, that means he stepped down because they're ready to prosecute.
