As here and everywhere else the election is always defined as a blue or red win/wave/tsunami. Personally, I believe the narrative should move away from the red/blue football game type coverage. Like with sports many have an ingrained loyalty to one team regardless of the team's performance and don't want to hear others attack that team. Maybe the distinguish difference should be categorized as something else. Unfortunately, using the red/blue reference is an easy (lazy?) catch-all to put all players in the respective boxes. Not sure where I'm going with this and certainly don't know what the better way would be.
