>Amount of fires in CA past 12-months?

Nice work anon!

Here is my own common sense analysis of wild and protective fires in CA relative to the total US in the past 12 months based on the best available data as of Nov 9 2018 found here:

https://gacc.nifc.gov/sacc/predictive/intelligence/NationalYTDbyStateandAgency.pdf

While California represents 4.3% of the total US land area, as of Nov 9th 2018, CA represented 15% of the total US #wild fires and 18% of the total US acres lost to wild fires. With these numbers in mind, does anyone else find it astonishing that CA represented only 0.3% of the US #protective fires and only 0.89% of the US # of acres burned to prevent wild fires???

I am no expert in such matters, but the numbers speak for themselves and certainly support Q's underlying argument.
