Miami to Philadelphia AA flight was in Trouble

American flight to Miami turned into a disaster and very blessed to have landed safely. Shortly after takeoff, at 40,000ft, the 767 began to shudder and we descended rapidly. Something felt wrong. Another 5 minutes passed and I tentatively continued to watch Sherlock Holmes on Netflix. As we continued to descend, suddenly, the O2 masks popped out like a canon. A burning smell ensued, likely from the charges to push open the O2 doors.

The captain made an announcement within 20 seconds in a strained voice and was not overly reassuring as he then accidently left overhead speakers on and I heard 'Emergency Jacksonville…..' and knew it wasn't great news. People were crying, an older couple next to me held hands and prayed.

I sent a text out thinking it wouldn't get out but somehow did to [Spouse] and the kids telling them I loved them. Probably not good because after that, no other texts went out. All interior power was cut at that point. Fortunately, we landed in Charlotte.

A woman in the back had a strange vasovagal episode with tonic- clonic spasms so paramedics boarded but not before the lady collapsed on my lap as flight crew attempted to get her to the front. I saw it coming and expected worse, I actually thought she was going to vomit on me but after thinking we all might die, it didnt seem so bad. The flight attendent then oddly asked if I wanted to get up and of course I did but I was supporting a 60yo woman now.

Just boarded another plane and hope to be home soon. Look at how rapidly we descended and how quickly the plane slowed down in the flight graph. Big plane to keep in the air at only 180mph. NO MORE DRAMA TONIGHT!
