Norway spruce tree arrived on a flatbed trailer on Saturday morning and was hoisted by a crane into a spot overlooking Rockefeller skating rink in Midtown Manhattan
The tree is a gift donated by Lissette Gutierrez and her wife, Shirley Figueroa, of Wallkill, New York
'Shelby,' the nickname they gave to the tree, was taken off of their home property and driven 60 miles south to New York City
The tree will be outfitted with five miles of 50,000 LED multicolored lights and a 900-pound Swarovski crystal star
The tree-lighting ceremony will be nationally televised on November 28 - the tree will stay up until January 7
The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is in place in the heart of New York City and will soon be strung with 50,000 lights.
The 72-foot-tall, 12-ton Norway spruce arrived on a flatbed trailer Saturday morning and was hoisted by a crane into a spot overlooking the Rockefeller skating rink.
Millions of people are expected to visit the tree, which will stay up till January 7.
Crowds will see the tree burst alive with five miles of LED multicolored lights and a 900-pound Swarovski crystal star during a televised ceremony on November 28.
The 75-year-old spruce came from Wallkill, 60 miles north of New York.
It was donated by Lissette Gutierrez and her wife, Shirley Figueroa, from their home property. They nicknamed the tree 'Shelby'.
