I still think that the AG role cannot go to anyone who was, or is, a Senator or Congressman, from 2008-now. Like Sessions, they know the people involved, having worked alongside them for years, and may have even witnessed some of the crimes, or at least had some knowledge of them. They would have to recuse, which I think is one of the main reasons Sessions had to move to a new role. Whoever is nominated to be AG cannot have potential issues with the need to recuse. The optics are too important. In the meantime, Whitaker can clean house, with the public thinking he is a "placeholder".
