I’ve known and respect fire-fighters immensely, however there is truth to what the other anon is saying. Minimum Security Inmates and Smoke Jumpers are the ones typically killed and there is corruption and immense over expenditure of funding in large scale forest fires.
Sometimes its even worse.

There will always be gluttony on part of any government agency. Some take it too far.
Thing is we need Police, Firefighters, Soldiers.
We cant always follow blindly cuz of muh bravery.
You ever see framers or steel workers walking stories up carrying tools across balance beams?
We need good paying jobs with pensions and benefits in all sectors.
FF, Police, Etc have an opportunity to stop being entitled and keep their homies in line within reason.

So by your rational it should be okay for them to waste money and start fires.
I cleary outlined my respect for and the need for firefighters but you or they are not different from other Americans that provide essential services.
