BARRICADE SITUATION IN THOUSAND OAKS, CAL LUTHERAN BEING REQUESTED TO GO ON LOCKDOWN:
7:53pm on Monday night, Ventura County Fire Department units were dispatched to respond to a residential fire at a complex at 14 McAfee Court near Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
Crews arrived and found a fire that was quickly extinguished, according to radio traffic. Shortly after the fire was put out, Ventura County Sheriff's Department deputies were requested to respond.
Sheriff's deputies taped off the area and evacuated the apartments surrounding the one where the fire had occurred, for what sounded like a possible barricade situation.
Additional resources including K-9, special enforcement deputies, and Thousand Oaks Police Chief Tim Hagel have also responded to the scene. Sheriffs were checking to make sure utilities to the apartment, including gas, are turned off. Ambulance paramedics are also being kept on standby.
Situation is ongoing at this time.
