Macron said that the EU needs an own army to defend itself against the US (& Russia, China).
Macron said that the EU sees the US as a threat, or maybe even as at war with the EU.
Why is POTUS trying to enforce more payments to NATO and why does the EU want an own army, which means quitting NATO?

You don't understand what I'm saying here:
The US taxpayers are paying for NATO.
And the deal is that NATO partners are forced to buy US weapons. Payed for by NATO partners' taxpayers.
NATO is ensuring that the US weapons industry is subsidzed by ALL the tax payers of ALL NATO countries.
Why would non-US countries be so interested in subsidizing ONLY the US weapons industry?
They aren't.
