An Epidemic of Pharmaceutical Drug Use is Harming Millions of Kids

There’s an important distinction between psychiatrists and psychologists. Both can use “talk therapy”, but only MD licensed psychiatrists can prescribe drugs. Even family MD doctors can prescribe psychotropics based on behavioral reports and their copy of a current DMS.

Since that DSM conference in 1968, Dr. Eisenberg’s contribution to mental disease by invention and committee consensus has resulted in drugging millions of children from preschool age through high school. It’s currently estimated that at least 20% (one in five) of children from nursery school and kindergarten through high school and in foster homes have been prescribed Ritalin alone.

The drug Ritalin, commonly prescribed for kids “diagnosed” (labeled) with ADHD, was tested a little over a decade ago by the Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). The BNL study determined that Ritalin is pharmacologically similar to cocaine with perhaps even worse brain damaging potential.

Even the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) classifies methylphenidate (Ritalin) as a Class II controlled substance with … “a high potential for abuse which may lead to severe psychological or physical dependence.” Here’s the controlled substance schedule.

Ritalin and other pharmaceutical psychotropic prescriptions are often enforced with threats of expulsion of those kids deemed inattentive or difficult to manage. Parents, teachers, or foster home caretakers who are too busy to bother managing children with dietary changes or appropriate social management skills are easily convinced that these drugs offer solutions.

Meanwhile, the collusion of Big Pharma and psychiatry thrives with their DSM invented diseases, which legitimize government and private insurance funding for their bogus medical racket. You don’t have to be well off to pay for a shrink anymore. Just make sure your coverage includes psychotropic drugs.

Not shockingly, psychiatrists with pharmaceutical ties comprised at least 68% of the DSM-V committee. Big Pharma pays psychiatrists to deliver seminars, act as consultants, or enroll their clients into final testing of new drugs. Some receive up to $100,000. Big Pharma paid out $250 million for these and other professional services during the years 2009 and 2010.

Dr. Irwin Savodnik of the UCLA School of Medicine stated succinctly, “The very vocabulary of psychiatry is now defined at all levels by the pharmaceutical industry.”

As I have written elsewhere, the history of modern psychiatry can be traced through the evolution of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM). First published in 1952, the DSM originally reflected the Freudian notion that mental illness was rooted primarily in unconscious conflict. In 1980, however, the manual was revamped and began to reflect psychiatry's movement from a conflict-driven model of the mind to a more biologically based model. This shift, we are told by Angell, was a conscious decision by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) to align themselves with the medical model taught at most American medical schools. It also corresponded, not accidentally, with the proliferation of a new generation of psychoactive drugs known as SSRI's.

Authors such as Robert Whitaker–whose book, Anatomy of an Epidemic, is also reviewed by Angell–makes a compelling argument for the over-diagnosis and medication of mental illness in the United States. His book stems from earlier research he conducted for an article on the connection between the number of adults receiving federal disability payments for mental illness and the release of Prozac (an SSRI) in 1987. What he discovered in his research was that the number of adults on federal disability due to mental illness jumped over three-fold from 1987 to 2007. This "epidemic," as he refers to it, has also impacted children in this country. During this same time period, according Whitaker, there has been a 35-fold increase in the number of children receiving federal disability due to mental illness.

Project MKUltra: The CIA Used Mind Control to Turn Children into "Sex Kittens". MKUltra was a secret program led by the CIA during the Cold War. Also known as Project Monarch, it involved experiments enacted on unknowing participants, many of whom were children. Children were subjected to mind altering drugs so that their behavior could be controlled. Many were taught how to be seductive, referred to by researchers as sex kittens.

Recent documents released by the CIA have confirmed that Project MKUltra was a secret program designed to control children through behavioral engineering. Children were exposed to sexual abuse, forced to take LSD, and participated in violent tasks. Covert and unofficially sanctioned by the CIA, Project MKUltra was one of the most controversial and unethical programs of all time. What could researchers and operatives possibly been trying to accomplish by using young children to carry out heinous experiments?

MKUltra MKUltra was a top-secret program carried out by the CIA during the Cold War. It largely focused on mind control and brainwashing. Some of MKUltra's subjects were adults, but many were children.

Project Monarch. Different tactics were used to brainwash children. Many were subjected to physical and sexual abuse. Most, if not all, were unknowingly given mind-altering drugs.

Richard Helms. Former CIA agent Richard Helms (pictured with Richard Nixon). Helms founded Project MKUltra in the 1950s. The psychological torture inflicted upon children was deemed to be acceptable if the ends justified the means.

LSD. Many people have seen the videos of the soldiers who were unknowingly given LSD. They responded to the drug in various ways, with some acting gleeful and delighted and others responding to the hallucinations with sheer terror. These experiments were carried out under the umbrella of MKUltra.

Behavioral conditioning. Children were taught how to be seductive. The purpose of some experiments was to turn the youths into sex kittens. Apparently, expecting children to engage in sexual contact with adults in order to extract information was acceptable to some researchers.

Mind control. Mind control is explored in The Manchurian Candidate. Those subjected to MKUltra were conditioned to have certain responses triggered by various stimuli. The responses were completely out of their control.

The Cold War. Supposedly, part of the motivation behind Project MKUltra was to keep an edge over enemies of the United States. It was believed that US prisoners of war were being brainwashed in Soviet and Chinese prisons. Under psychological duress, the prisoners might divulge classified information to their captors.

Marilyn. Though it has never been officially confirmed, several famous celebrities are rumored to have been subjected to MKUltra's brainwashing experiments. The most famous is Marilyn Monroe, whose highly sexual persona has been attributed to psychological conditioning. Others linked to MKUltra include Ken Kesey and Ted Kaczynski.

Unknown experiments. Though the CIA recently released its files on MKUltra, the documents are highly redacted and censored. The majority of the experiments conducted are still shrouded in secrecy. Many people who were victims of Project MKUltra have testified that they were subjected to sexual slavery.

The OSS. Projects MKUltra and Monarch were carried out by the CIA's predecessor, the Office of Strategic Services, or the OSS. The OSS researched weapons and other devices that could be used to the strategic advantage of the United States. Eventually, the OSS was dissolved and absorbed by other branches of the government.

Congressional investigation. In 1975, a congressional hearing was held wherein some of the details of MKUltra were revealed. It is believed that MKUltra was active from 1953 to 1973, with experiments conducted in various locations.

Universities. Research was conducted in multiple locations. Experiments were done at Stanford, Columbia, and other colleges. It is also believed that experiments were done in prisons without the prisoners' consent.

Other experiments. Some subjects were administered drugs that induced paralysis. Others were forced to undergo electroshock therapy. Various other dangerous drugs were given to MKUltra's subjects, including heroin, MDMA, and methamphetamine.

Operation Midnight Climax. Operation Midnight Climax was another experiment carried out under the MKUltra umbrella. Prostitutes employed by the government lured men to OSS-controlled facilities. The men would then be unknowingly given drugs. The effects of the drugs were monitored by OSS agents who sat behind two-way mirrors.

Dr Jose Delgado, a neurophsiologist at Yale University School, was especially interested in Electronic Stimulation of the Brain. By implanting a small probe into the brain, Delgado discovered that he could wield enormous power over his subject. Using a device he called the ‘stimoceiver’ which operated by FM radio waves, he was able to electrically orchestrate a wide range of human emotions. These included rage, lust and fatigue. Much of this was continued on the MK-Ultra Sub-Project 95 by Dr.Jose Delgado and Dr Louis Joylan West who mastered a technology called “RHIC-EDOM.” RHIC means “Radio Hypnotic Intracerebral Control”, and EDOM means “Electronic Dissolution Of Memory.” These implants are stimulated to induce a post-hypnotic suggestion. Evidence exists that mind-control and behavior modification technology is presently concealed behind Non Lethal Defense (NLD) initiatives. In announcement in 1995 that non-lethal weapons – including high powered microwaves and radio frequency devices – are to be ‘transited’ to the law enforcement sector was met with dismay in some quarters. This joint program, known as ‘Operations Other Than War’, opens the way for the military to move into the civilian domain – a move precluded by the American constitution.
