Opioids and now SSRI's are upgraded versions of drugs of the 60's - 80's. If LSD gave X% success rate of MKUltra holding in subject, SSRI's give almost certainty that it will work. Less random uncontrolled events and more specific controlled events. Pharma also via liability laws and side effect warnings means that they aren't ever held liable for actions and if sued, it's a minimum payout compared to what they bring in per year. It's cheap to create a FF.
