Judicial Watch: Federal Court Hearing to Compel Testimony from Hillary Clinton and Make Video Depositions Public

‘The public and the media have a right to a full accounting from top officials of the Clinton State Department’ – Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

(Washington, DC) –Judicial Watch announced today that a hearing will be held in federal court Wednesday, November 14, 2018, on a motion to compel further testimony from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Director of Information Resource Management of the Executive Secretariat John Bentel, as well as make public the audiovisual recordings of the depositions of top Clinton aides and State Department officials, including Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills.

Clinton claimed that she “does not recall” 20 times in her under-oath responses to 25 Judicial Watch questions concerning her Clinton.com, non-state.gov email system. Bentel asserted his Fifth Amendment right and refused to answer 87 questions at his deposition.

The hearing is before U.S. District Court Judge Emmet G. Sullivan.

Date: Wednesday, November 14, 2018

Time: 2:00 p.m. ET

Location: Courtroom 24 A

U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia

333 Constitution Ave NW

Washington, DC 20001

This hearing was rescheduled from October 11, 2018, and is the latest development in a Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit about the controversial employment status of Huma Abedin, former Deputy Chief of Staff to Clinton. The lawsuit, which seeks records regarding the authorization for Abedin to engage in outside employment while employed by the Department of State, was reopened because of revelations about the clintonemail.com system (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:13-cv-01363)).

In 2016, Hillary Clinton was required to submit, under oath, written answers to Judicial Watch’s questions. Clinton objected to and refused to answer questions about the creation of her email system; her decision to use the system despite warnings from State Department cybersecurity officials; and the basis for her claim that the State Department had “90-95%” of her emails. Judge Sullivan is considering Judicial Watch’s motion to compel answers to these questions.

In her responses sent to Judicial Watch and the court on October 13, 2016, Clinton refused to answer three questions and responded that she “does not recall” 20 times concerning her non-government clintonemail.com email system. She preceded her responses by eight “general objections” and two “objections to definitions.” The words “object” or “objection” appear 84 times throughout the 23-page document submitted to the court and Judicial Watch.

“The public and the media have a right to a full accounting from top officials of the Clinton State Department,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “In lieu of a much-needed, new and untainted investigation by the FBI, the continued work of Judicial Watch in the courts is clearly the only hope of bringing sunlight into the Clinton email issue and completing the public record.”

Hungarian Foreign Minister calls for restoring EU-Russia economic cooperation

Restoring economic cooperation with Russia is “clearly in the economic interests of Europe” in light of an “emerging global trade war”, Hungary’s foreign minister told MTI by phone from Dubai on Monday.

Peter Szijjarto is in Dubai to attend the annual session of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council. Szijjarto pointed to earlier European plans to create a trading area “from Lisbon to Vladivostok” and suggested that those plans should be implemented.

“But we must see that we are very far from that concept. Economic cooperation between Russia and Europe is going in an extremely wrong direction. There is significant Russia-Europe cooperation, but based on double standards: companies of the big Western European countries are making great deals with Russian firms behind the scenery,” the minister said.

According to Szijjarto, the “double standards” should be abandoned and cooperation “in general” needs to be rebuilt. That, he said, would serve the interests of all countries across the EU. He added that coupling Europe’s high technologies and raw material sources in the east would greatly improve Europe’s competitiveness.

Szijjarto warned, however, that any such restoration effort should be “based on mutual respect for one another’s rights and for international law”.

Republican Congressman Sues to Stop Algorithm From Deciding Election in Maine

Republican Congressman for Maine’s 2nd district, Bruce Poliquin filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday against Maine’s Secretary of State to stop an algorithm from deciding the election in his race against Democrat opponent Jared Golden.

Via the Press Herald:

Republican 2nd District Congressman Bruce Poliquin filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday against Maine’s Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap in an attempt to stop a tabulation of ranked-choice ballots in his race against Democratic challenger Jared Golden.

The suit filed in federal court in Bangor is asking for an injunction against Dunlap to stop what would be the first congressional race in the nation to be decided through ranked-choice voting. Neither Poliquin nor Golden secured a majority of the vote in the first round of counting, pushing the tabulation to voters’ second choices in an attempt to determine which candidate has the support of more than 50 percent of voters.

Maine voters have approved the process twice at the ballot box.

Poliquin’s suit claims the use of ranked-choice voting violates the U.S. Constitution because the document “sets a plurality vote as the qualification for election” to Congress.

Bruce Poliquin also sent a letter to Secretary of State Dunlap’s office requesting his staff stop processing votes ahead of Wednesday’s “ranked-choice” run-off.

Republican Congressman Bruce Poliquin pointed out that Maine has a long history of plurality winners in its elections.

Bruce Poliquin also argued against an algorithm deciding the Maine election in a Facebook post Tuesday.

“This system only adds additional cost to taxpayers, creates overwhelming confusion for our citizens, and is ripe for mishandling and unlawful electioneering actions, as evidenced already,” Poliquin wrote on Facebook. “Mainers deserve better than their money being wasted, their frustrations growing, and their sacred right of voting being manipulated.”

Poliquin’s opponent Jared Golden responded to the lawsuit Tuesday.

The case has been assigned to Judge Lance Walker.

Lance Walker was nominated by President Trump and confirmed by the US Senate in October.

Where is the €1bn the EU gave to Turkey?

€1bn of funding given to Turkey for refugees. The European Union is unable to verify how the money given was spent.

The money was given to Turkey by Brussels to assist Syrian refugees but the date protection laws in Turkey prevent full disclosure of where the money has gone.

According to European Court of Auditors, The Facility for Refugees in Turkey programme is described as having “swift response to the crisis in challenging circumstances”.

Neither the EU Commission nor the European Court of Auditors are able to verify who benefited from two cash-assistance project for refugees which reports for nearly half of the budget. This according to Euractiv.

Turkish authorities are refusing disclosure about which refugees are being assisted from the ‘Emergency Social Safety Net’ due to data protection laws. It has a budget of around valued around €1 billion.

The European Court of Auditors’ Bettina Jakobsen has stated: “You can see that the money goes to the refugees but you cannot completely say that all money goes there.

“Normally as an auditor you would say you would like to follow the flow of money from the cradle to the grave. We cannot do that here.”

She says it is a “serious situation” that the EU has given Turkey massive amounts of money which they can then refuse to fully disclose where it is being used.

Massive Woolsey Fire Began On Contaminated Santa Susana Field Laboratory, Close to Site of Partial Meltdown

The tremendously destructive Woolsey Fire has been widely reported as beginning “near” the Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL or Rocketdyne), but it appears that the fire began on the Rocketdyne property itself. Cal Fire identifies the fire location as E Street and Alfa Road, a location that is in fact on SSFL. It was recently reported that the “Chatsworth electric substation” experienced a disturbance 2 minutes before the fire was reported, but that substation is in fact on SSFL, near that location. A photograph posted on Twitter from KCAL9’s Stu Mundel shows the fire starting Thursday afternoon near the same location, which is only about 1,000 yards away from the site of the 1959 partial nuclear meltdown of the Sodium Reactor Experiment (SRE) reactor.

Damning Report Reveals Britain’s Border ‘Not Secured by Any Stretch of the Imagination’

A damning report into the protection of Britain’s seaports, harbours, and marinas has revealed that the country’s border is “not secured by any stretch of the imagination”.

Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration David Bolt, who previously revealed that the Home Office had “lost” some 56,000 migrants scheduled for deportation, including around 700 ex-cons, has published an official report describing an underresourced Border Force.

The government body is reported to be struggling to cope, as illegal migrants shift their focus from the Port of Dover crossing to others such as Newhaven, Portsmouth, Southampton, Poole, Plymouth and other, smaller points of entry, increasingly accessed via ports in Normandy and even Spain, rather than their former launchpad of Calais.

Bolt’s report said officers had “told inspectors that there were not enough of them to meet increasing operational pressures, and one group commented that ‘the border is not secured by any stretch of the imagination’.”

He said that officers felt that they were “resourced to fail” — and that they were “certain” illegal migrants were aware of this and took it into consideration when making their attempts on the border.

“[T]heir intel is a lot better than ours,” they complained.

“I recognise that Border Force is dealing with many challenges, not just along the south coast but nationally, and that its job is not made any easier by having to prepare for the UK’s exit from the EU without clarity as yet about what exactly this will involve,” Bolt conceded.

“However, it is difficult to escape the impression that Border Force believes it knows best and will make changes only on its own terms and at its own pace.”

Indeed, while the Home Office’s official response to the report’s recommendations shows they appear to have ‘Accepted’ or ‘Partially Accepted’ all of them, a closer reading of the text appears implies they are simply describing or defending the actions already being taken or already in place — with specific recommendations that coastal patrol vessels’ time at sea should be increased being rejected as “not… a measure of operational effectiveness”, for example.

“The Independent Chief Inspector of Border and Immigration in the report of his inspection of south coast ports has pointed to evidence that would-be illegal migrants once in camps around Calais and Dunkirk have shifted their focus to ferry ports in Normandy and Spain, with an increase in attempts at clandestine entry into the UK via south coast ports like Poole and Portsmouth,” remarked Migration Watch UK vice-chairman Alp Mehmet.

“This is worrying. It is imperative that the Home Office heeds the ICBI’s warnings and addresses the problem before it escalates to ‘Jungle’ proportions.”

462 Financial Journalists Were Asked Their Political Leanings. Guess How Many Said They Were Conservative.

Just about everything you would assume about journalists covering the financial industry is true, according to a new study.

Scholars from Arizona State University and Texas A&M University surveyed 462 financial journalists and conducted 18 follow-up interviews to reach their conclusions. The abstract of their paper summarizes their findings”

“First, financial journalists have stronger incentives to produce original information and analysis than to disseminate information already in the public domain, and they rely heavily on private communication with company management for information. Second, sell-side analysts play an important role in informing financial journalists, many of whom lack financial sophistication. Third, the incentives for sensationalism in the business press assumed in prior research are dominated by incentives for accurate, timely, in-depth, and informative reporting, while the quid pro quo incentives assumed in prior literature (e.g., putting a positive spin on company news to maintain access to inside sources) are substantial.”

Get that? Journalists covering the financial industry don’t know the industry, and give favorable coverage to keep access. Sounds like pretty much every other type of journalist. The good thing for financial journalists, the study found, is that they value informative reporting over sensationalism, something severely lacking in other areas of journalism.

The journalists survey by the scholars come from the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Associated Press, Washington Post and other highly respected outlets, as well as other smaller outlets.

One other thing the researchers found was that the surveyed journalists overwhelmingly described themselves as liberal. Of those surveyed, 17.63% said they were “very liberal,” and 40.84% said they were “somewhat liberal,” for a total of 58.47% saying they lean Left.

On the other side of the spectrum, just 0.46% said they were “very conservative” and 3.94% described themselves as “somewhat conservative,” for a total of 4.4% of respondents leaning Right. The other 37.12% said they were moderate.

This isn’t that surprising considering how much of the larger media landscape identifies with the Left. Conservatives have complained for decades about media bias, and they’ve largely been right. In 2016, the Center for Public Integrity looked at the political donations of 430 journalists, and found that the overwhelming majority of them donated to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

The studied journalists gave $382,000 to Clinton and just $14,000 to then-candidate Donald Trump. Just 50 of the journalists donated to Trump, meaning 380 – or 88% - gave to Clinton. This also only includes those who gave more than $200 to a candidate, as those names must be disclosed by law. Far more could have donated to either candidate with smaller donations.

A similar pattern was found in 2012. Even employees at Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation, which owns Fox News, donated more to President Barack Obama than Mitt Romney.

It’s obvious that the media is made up of left-leaning reporters, but it is fascinating to learn that the bias isn’t limited to political journalism or culture reporters. The infection is everywhere.

US-Led Coalition Transfers Daesh Terrorists From Syria's Hasakah - Reports

According to SANA's earlier reports, over 60 civilians were killed or injured by an airstrike, made by the US-led coalition on al-Sha'afa town in eastern Deir ez-Zor.

The US-led coalition evacuated the other day a number of Daesh terrorists by helicopters, from the province of Hasakah to some unknown location, the SANA news agency reported.

"On November 10, the helicopters of the international coalition led by the US evacuatedsupposedly three militants out of As-Suwayda village in the north-eastern part of Hasakah province and headed in an unknown direction," the agency cited its sources as saying.

Earlier this month, Damascus accused the US-led coalition of violating international law and killing civilians in a letter to the United Nations, saying that Washington wasn't fighting terrorism in the country. The Syrian Foreign Ministry urged the United Nations to launch an investigation into a deadly airstrike carried out by the coalition in Deir ez-Zor, in which 62 people were killed and dozens injured.

The statement followed a series of bombings of the town of Hajin, which, according to Syrian news agency SANA, included the use of white phosphorus. A coalition spokesman denied the use of the prohibited material.

Merkel calls for creation of a 'real, true' European army in rebuke to Trump after he mocked France, saying they were 'learning German in Paris' in WWII until the US saved them

The German Chancellor called for EU army in speech to ministers in Strasbourg

Her remark drew widespread applause but some boos from the lawmakers

Comes after Emmanuel Macron put forward the same idea on French television

Also comes after President Trump joked that the French 'were learning German before the US came along' and called on leaders to pay their way in NATO

Angela Merkel called for the creation of a 'real, true' European army during a speech to EU ministers on Tuesday in a rebuke to President Trump.

The German Chancellor also called for a European Security Council that would be responsible for coordinating defence policy across the continent.

Merkel spoke out after French President Emmanuel Macron floated the same idea last week, and hours after Donald Trump lambasted him for it on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Trump joked that Parisians 'were starting to learn German before the U.S. came along' and liberated France during the Second World War - and told EU leaders to pay their fair share to NATO.

Crooks and Communists Fight to Lead House Democratic Caucus

The chair of the Democratic Caucus is one of those influential positions that nobody thinks twice about.

In 2016, Rep. Linda Sanchez got to be the vice-chair of the Democratic Caucus and her appointment was touted as an identity politics first. To get the job, Rep. Sanchez had to beat out Rep. Barbara Lee, an admirer of murderous Communist dictator Fidel Castro. And Sanchez only beat out Lee by two votes.

Together with sister, Loretta Sanchez, who had warned, "the Vietnamese and the Republicans are… trying to take this seat", the Sanchez sisters were also the only disgraceful sister duo in the House.

Rep. Sanchez had set her sights on serving as the chair of the Democratic Caucus, a position formerly held by luminaries like Senator Bob Menendez, Rep. John Larson, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and Dan Rostenkowski, sent to prison for mail fraud. But then her husband was indicted on corruption charges.

Sanchez announced that she was dropping out of the contest to due to “an unexpected family matter.”

”Earlier today I learned that my husband is facing charges in Connecticut,” Sanchez stated. “After careful consideration of the time and energy being in leadership demands, I have decided that my focus now needs to be on my son, my family, and my constituents in California."

James Sullivan, Sanchez’s husband, who served as the chair of the Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Corporation, along with others is accused of misusing $800K from CMEEC on trips to the Kentucky Derby and luxury golf resorts, chartered planes and high end hotels.

The Justice Department press release mentions, “trips for Sullivan and his family members to attend the Kentucky Derby in 2013, 2014, and 2015, and airfare for a flight for Sullivan’s wife to travel to Key West, Florida, in December 2014.”

That refers to Rep. Linda Sanchez, whose House Democrats bio claims that she had fought to help “hard working people get ahead”. Or at least the hard working horses at the Kentucky Derby

It’s best to focus on the needs of your constituents in California when flying to Florida and Kentucky at the expense of homeowners in Connecticut and the Department of Energy is no longer an option.

Sanchez’s office had claimed that the Kentucky Derby trip had been okayed by the House Ethics Committee whose approval she had sought “out of an abundance of caution”.

And then the FBI investigation began.

But that’s not the end of that scandal.

Norwich Public Utilities had also paid out $35,000 to settle a harassment complaint against Sanchez's husband by a female employee.

The love story of Sanchez and Sullivan was the usual romantic Democrat tale of crony love at taxpayer expense. Sullivan met Sanchez while on a trip to lobby Congress for an exception for stimulus spending for the Metropolitan District Commission in Hartford.

Sullivan talked Rep. Larson into getting his guys a taste of that sweet stimulus spending. Then Rep. Larson introduced his new best friend to Rep. Sanchez and it was a match made in the swamp.

James Sullivan brought back $90 million back for the MDC and married his blushing bride in Rep. Larson’s office. Rep. Sanchez described their relationship as, “down to earth, committed and heartfelt.”

Now it’s Sullivan who might end up being committed.
