Trump-Appointed Regulator Indicted in Alabama on Ethics Violations

A grand jury in Alabama has indicted the Environmental Protection Agency’s southeast regional director for violating state ethics laws, according to local media reports.

EPA regional administrator Trey Glenn, appointed in 2017 by US President Donald Trump, and a former Alabama Environmental Management Commissioner were indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury on Monday for several legal violations. The duo has been charged with multiple counts of corruption under the state's Ethics Acts.

Glenn worked with Birmingham law firm Balch & Bingham, plus one of its clients, Drummond Company, to combat EPA testing of neighborhoods in north Birmingham and Tarrant. Glenn teamed up with Scott Phillips, former Alabama Environmental Management Commissioner, to fight EPA efforts. They set up a company called Southeast Engineering & Consulting to oppose the EPA — at the same time Phillips served on the commission.

The duo allegedly accepted money from private sector parties to influence Alabama regulators at the same time when Phillips was one of the top environmental regulation officials in the state.

Trump appointed Glenn to serve as the leader of the EPA's Region 4 in August 2017, after the crimes listed in the indictment had allegedly been committed. The region includes Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi.

"The Alabama Ethics Commission is committed to working with Alabama's District Attorneys, and all enforcement agencies, whenever needed and asked to do so, to ensure enforcement of Alabama's Ethics laws on behalf of the citizens of Alabama; and these indictments are evidence of that," Alabama Ethics Commission Director Tom Albritton said in a news release.

Glenn is not the first political appointee from the Trump administration who turned out to be a bad apple. Former EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt resigned in July 2018 over ethics violations including directing his staff to find used mattresses from the Trump Hotel, ordering his subordinates to bring him hand lotion from a Ritz Carlton resort and seeking potentially lucrative jobs for his wife.

Pruitt isn't the only cabinet member who has been disgraced into resigning because of his nonexistent ethics. Former Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price resigned in September 2017 after racking up a $400,000 bill for 24 rides on privately chartered jets, Politico reported. Factoring in his travel expenses incurred flying on military aircraft, Price's flight bill easily surpassed $1 million. Even more magnificently, Price was able to squander that $1 million on flight costs in just nine months.

Mueller Grand Jury Witness Accuses Clinton-Linked Prosecutor Of Conflict Of Interest

An associate of Roger Stone who appeared before the Mueller grand jury on Nov. 2 is accusing the special counsel of a conflict of interest.

Tyler Nixon says that he was questioned prior to his testimony by Jeannie Rhee, a prosecutor who previously represented Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation.

Nixon says he finds it “deeply troubling” that Rhee is involved in the investigation, which has recently focused on Stone.

An attorney who appeared as a witness before the Mueller grand jury is accusing the special counsel’s office of a conflict of interest because one of the prosecutors involved in the special counsel’s case has worked for Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation.

The prosecutor, Jeannie Rhee, has questioned witnesses about Roger Stone, the Trump confidant who is one of the targets of the investigation, numerous sources tell The Daily Caller News Foundation. Rhee questioned Tyler Nixon, an attorney for Stone, just before his grand jury appearance on Nov. 2.

“[Rhee’s involvement] was not disclosed to me prior to my testimony, and I find this to be deeply troubling and certainly Ms. Rhee should be recused or removed from the investigation,” Nixon told TheDCNF.

Recusals related to special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe became an issue after the appointment of Matthew Whitaker as acting attorney general on Nov. 7.

Among the reasons that Democrats have called for Whitaker’s recusal are his comments criticizing the Trump-Russia probe as well as his work in 2014 on a political campaign for Sam Clovis, a former Trump campaign official who testified before the Mueller grand jury as a witness in 2017.

Seven top congressional Democrats, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and California Rep. Adam Schiff, cited Whitaker’s work with Clovis in a letter Sunday to the Justice Department’s top ethics official. The Democrats asked DOJ whether Whitaker has been advised on whether he should recuse himself from the probe.

Rhee’s work on the special counsel’s team poses a larger conflict of interest than Whitaker’s links to Clovis, Nixon asserts.

“I find it astonishing that there are cries for the recusal for Mr. Whitaker when I know that I was personally interviewed on behalf of the special counsel by an attorney, Jeannie Rhee, who was Hillary Clinton’s and the Clinton Foundation’s personal attorney not one or two years prior to her joining the special counsel,” Nixon told TheDCNF.

As a partner at Wilmer Hale, Rhee represented the Clinton Foundation in a 2015 racketeering lawsuit filed by the conservative watchdog group Freedom Watch. She also represented former Secretary of State Clinton in a lawsuit that sought access to her private email account. She also donated the maximum allowed under federal law to Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.

Israel Proposes Forming Int'l Coalition in Paris to Push Iran out of Syria

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held Sunday a series of meetings in Paris in the framework of his intensive efforts to combat Iranian activity in Syria and Lebanon and work on “recruiting the world behind the demand to expel Iranians completely from Syrian territory.”

Netanyahu arrived in Paris and met the French President, Emmanuel Macron, on the sidelines of the commemorations marking 100 years since the end of World War I. He urged Macron to use his influence in Lebanon to put more pressure on Lebanese President Michel Aoun and PM Saad Hariri’s government in regards to Iran's advanced weapons factories on Lebanese soil as well as against Iranian activity in Syria.

Netanyahu spokesman said he intends to meet with the largest number of leaders, among the 60 participating in the celebrations, to propose the idea of forming a coalition against Iran. Notably, Housing Minister and former Israeli army’s Southern Command Yoav Gallant called for forming an international coalition, including the United States, Europe, Russia, and other European countries to push Iran and Lebanese Hezbollah out of Syria.

“We need to make sure we don’t make the same mistake that we did in Lebanon and allow an Iranian military presence in Syria,” he told “Jerusalem Post,”adding that Israel cannot allow the Syrian regime to have access to advanced weaponry which makes its way from Iran to Lebanon via Syria.

Gallant claimed that Israel can take out Iran from Syria, “but we need to continue having a coalition with those who can help us,” he said, explaining that there is no country that wants Iran to remain in Syria.

He said that Iranian threat isn’t limited to Syria as Tehran “controls” three countries outside its borders – in Iraq through its Shiite militias, in Lebanon through Hezbollah, and in Yemen through the Houthi rebels – and is trying very hard to entrench itself in Syria.

On the other hand, Netanyahu said he had a “short talk” with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Paris. He said the talks were “good and substantive and even very important.” Netanyahu’s office had been working to arrange such a meeting, his first with Putin since Syrian air defenses downed a Russian military plane during an Israeli airstrike in Syria in mid-September.

Deep State Unleashed: Hillary’s Attack Dog Heads Potential Mueller Prosecution of Roger Stone

The potential Mueller prosecution of the Clinton’s nemesis Roger Stone is being headed by Jeannie Rhee, the very same lawyer who represented Hillary Clinton personally in the missing e-mail case and represented the Clinton Foundation in 2015 against a racketeering lawsuit.

This comes at time when Democrats are demanding that acting Matthew Whitaker recuse himself from the Mueller investigation because of “political bias.”

The woman charged with potentially prosecuting Trump’s longest serving political adviser Roger Stone is Jeannie Rhee, who also represented Obama Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes during the House Select Committee on Benghazi’s investigation of Hillary Clinton’s handling of the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack.

As a private attorney in Robert Mueller’s law firm Wilmer-Hale, Rhee has represented Hillary Clinton personally as well as the Clinton Foundation.

In addition to serving as Hillary Clinton’s personal attorney and lawyer for the Clinton Foundation, Rhee is a contributor to Hillary Clinton’s Presidential campaign. According to FEC records Rhee gave $5,400 to Clinton’s Presidential bid in 2015 and 2016.

Rhee’s conflict of interest is particularly brazen in that she represented Hillary in the missing e-mails case and that issue is one of the questions under which Stone is under investigation according to several witnesses interviewed about Stone by the FBI.

“That Rhee is investigating false allegations against Stone regarding the missing e-mails – the very issue where she represented Clinton is a very serious conflict,” said Stone attorney Tyler Nixon.

Since June, Rhee has been questioning witnesses about Roger Stone in front of the grand jury. Stone, of course, is the colorful Trump loyalist who wrote the bestselling book “The Clintons’ War on Women”, which Trump himself cited on the campaign trail in 2016.

During a tsunami of illegal leaks from the Special Counsel’s office, Rhee is said to be investigating Stone to determine whether Stone had knowledge of the content or source of the Clinton material published by the on-line website Wikileaks, including the allegedly stolen e-mails of Clinton campaign chief John Podesta. Wikileaks publisher Julian Assange himself announced to the world that he had such material in a CNN interview with Anderson Cooper in June of 2016.

Stone has steadfastly denied that is the case. But the Special Counsel’s legal reach is without limit and multiple Stone associates said the FBI questioned them about Stone’s family life, personal life, political life and business life. Sources tell Big League Politics that a working group within the Mueller task force monitors all of the veteran political strategist’s social media, including appearances on Infowars, sometimes with Alex Jones.
