I had only time to read a snippit. One of the men who first pushed for a Jewish state in Palistine. Moses Löb Lilienblum, born in Russia. Anti- russian riots of 80 - 81 led him to believe the only safe course into the future would be for the Jews to have their own nation
they organized a committee for the purpose of creating such a state in Odessa, port city on the Black Sea, in '83. They said they were the only people without a country and so set about planning to colonize Palestine
