The Republicans do have similar technology. A bunch of analytics companies spun out of the 2012 OFA. At the same time, several Republican analytics firms were started. The only differences are related to the DNC/RNC providing continuity between elections – and how much Obama handed over to the DNC. The RNC was behind, so when they started after 2012 the data was processed by the new analytics companies with support from the RNC.
The RNC was flat footed in 2012 and made up ground since.
I didn't say what they DO with the data is the same. Just that both use data to profile and target voters in campaigns. Political parties have been doing this with mailing lists and voter files for many years. Now it's automated and on steroids.
If you're evil, you'll do evil things with data. Like FB, Twitter, etc. Carol Davidsen highlighted the real issue. The Dems were given preferential treatment from large tech companies to seed their dataset. They were GIVEN the whole map.
Not a lawfag, but it doesn't seem right. There should be equal access/regulations.
