I don't see the benefit here. Now there are 2 good votes: Grassley and Pence. If (I guess this is the theory) Pence steps aside and Grassley becomes VP and thus President of the Senate, now we only have one of those good votes, and Grassley can no longer vote on non-tied votes and has to leave Jud. Committee.
