Event: Restriction on Travel to Haiti for USG Personnel

 

U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince has announced it is restricting the routine travel of U.S. Government personnel to a 15 mile radius around the capital due to security concerns. Accordingly, U.S. Embassy Santo Domingo now requires Chief of Mission pre-approval for all travel to Haiti by U.S. Government personnel in the Dominican Republic.

 

Actions to Take:

 

  • Avoid land travel into Haiti from the Dominican Republic

Consult the Department of State’s country information on Haiti before travelling

 

  • Consider postponing, traveling by air or otherwise managing the potential risks of travel to Haiti at this time

 

  • Monitor local media for updates

 

  • Review your personal security plans

 

  • Share your contact information and travel plans with family, friends or others

 

  • If traveling by road, consider traveling in convoys of two vehicles if possible

 

  • If you encounter a roadblock, turn around and get to a safe area

Yes Baker, might want to mention that the "official" story is that the military is there to protect a border from a caravan, but there's no known caravan according to whoever took those pictures and their associates.
