House Republicans are proposing new party rules for the chamber that would force indicted members of Congress to relinquish their committee assignments and leadership positions.
I believe this would allow a temporary replacement to take the seat since it's a voluntary 'resignation' versus a forced departure.
For Dems who are indicted (and go directly to jail), their seats would remain empty until special elections in March.

Republicans would then have a minority.
