So I'm starting to look and having a bit of a rough go. I stumbled on a website with a list of a bunch of dead scientists. Cancer researchers, AIDs researchers, homeopathic medicine, semiconductor, etc.

Check out Shane Todd. He was killed for his work regarding Gallium Nitride which is used in the manufacture of semiconductors.

I think you might have found it. Those scientists were working on satellite guidance systems. I always assumed the deaths would be recent but this looks like a strong candidate.
