Are there any contrary theories going around to suggest that this might have been (our) burn? The gold theory or some clearing for the train theory or just plain moving people sounds interesting. Simply not cleaning the forest floor could be as well. But are there tunnels in them there hills? Any reason why the good guys might want to "force this one" or "burn them out"?
