Although Stalin’s memory is making a nostalgic comeback in some parts of the society, most Russians abhor communism, and what it did to their country. A columnist in Russian media outlet RIA Novosti, Victor Marahovski, outlined his thoughts on the subject today in Moscow.

US military chief says tech giants should work with Pentagon, not China

The top US military officer said on Saturday that it is problematic that American tech companies do no want to work with the Pentagon but are willing to engage with the Chinese.

US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford told the Halifax International Security Forum in Nova Scotia that the US and its allies are the “good guys”.

“I have a hard time with companies that are working very hard to engage in the market inside China, then don’t want to work with the US military,” he said. “I just have a simple expression: “We are the good guys.”

EU ministers to discuss militarization of Azov Sea

EU foreign ministers will discuss a range of issues in Brussels on Monday (19 November), including for the first time the militarization of the Azov Sea, which diplomats say has been effectively blockaded by Russia.

According to a diplomat, the Ukraine issue was put on the agenda at the insistence of Poland, but he added that in fact Warsaw was “pushing an open door”. The first issue to be discussed would be the follow up after the elections in the separatist-held areas of Donetsk and Lugansk on 11 November, which were condemned by the EU and the US.

'Judgement Day' nears: Analyst on why Clinton may finally end up behind bars

It appears that US conservatives are not going to let former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton go. Controversy is still simmering around the Clinton Foundation and Hillary Clinton's email scandal. Charles Ortel, a Wall Street analyst and investigative journalist who has been conducting a private investigation into the Clintons' charity, calls the Clinton Foundation the biggest charity fraud ever.

The analyst emphasizes the importance of November 15 as a date for the Clintons, suggesting that the truth about their charity may soon emerge.

Charles Ortel: Under US federal laws, the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation ("BHCCF") must file a complete, truthful report on IRS Form 990 by the close of business on November 15, 2018 concerning its operations and financial results for 2017. This is the final filing deadline and no extensions are possible.

In addition, BHCCF must file reports with numerous states by 15 November 2018. Many of these states impose tough filing requirements - one example is New York State, which, effectively, is the base from which BHCCF's global network of purported charities is run.

Unlike the IRS, New York requires charities to list out all of their subsidiaries, branches and affiliates, to provide details concerning all of the grants given to them by governments (foreign and domestic), and to procure an audit from an independent and certified professional accounting firm that is wholly consistent with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

In the US, strict rules apply to financial reporting for charities. The report that is due concerning 2017 can only be filed accurately if BHCCF attempts to correct years of false and misleading prior filings that used accounting techniques not allowed in the US for charities and includes missing schedules and information that never was validly filed.

When formed on October 23, 1997, BHCCF was then called the "William J. Clinton Presidential Foundation". Despite being required to do so, this entity did not file an IRS return on form 990 for the "short period" from its formation through December 31, 1997. There is no statute of limitations concerning this failure to file an initial "short period" return.

Democratic 2020 Candidate Wants Government-Sponsored ‘Social Credit’ System Comparable To China’s

New York entrepreneur and Democratic 2020 candidate Andrew Yang wants to implement a system in which a government-run mobile app rewards Americans with “digital social credits” (DSCs) for good behavior.

Americans would receive DSCs under Yang’s system for things such as “participating in a town fair,” “fixing a neighbor’s appliance” or “tutoring a student,” his presidential campaign website explains.

“As individuals rack up DSCs, they would have both a permanent balance they’ve earned over their lifetime and a current balance. They could cash the points in for experiences, purchases with participating vendors, support for causes, and transfer points to others for special occasions,” Yang states on his website. “As their permanent balance gets higher, they might qualify for various perks like throwing a pitch at a local ballgame, an audience with their local Congressperson or meeting their state’s most civic-minded athlete or celebrity.”

Man pleads guilty in San Ysidro fentanyl pill case; seizure was largest ever at Mexican border

A U.S. citizen who lived in Tijuana pleaded guilty Thursday to importing more than 20,000 fentanyl pills — a haul that was discovered at the San Ysidro Port of Entry and is believed to be the largest seizure of its kind along the U.S.-Mexico border, prosecutors said.

Fernando Jesus Peraza, 39, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 8 while trying to enter the U.S. from Tijuana at the San Ysidro border crossing, prosecutors said. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer noted anomalies after passing a density reading device over his Audi TT Quattro.

Authorities uncovered four packages hidden in the passenger rear quarter panel of the car, according to the complaint. Inside were more than 20,000 pills that at first glance resembled blue oxycodone “M30s,” but tested positive for fentanyl, an extremely potent and deadly synthetic heroin.

“This is the biggest fentanyl pill seizure we’ve seen along the Southwest Border, and it’s likely a national record,” U.S. Attorney Adam Braverman said at the time of Peraza’s arrest.

Most consumers are unaware off the mainstream media’s dirty little secret. Think tanks are increasingly taking advantage of tight news budgets to influence the press agenda in favour of their sponsors.

Decades ago, these outfits generally operated as policy advisories. Although, some were comfortably enumerated ‘retirement homes’ for distinguished public servants or intellectuals. However, in modern times, they have become indistinguishable from lobbying firms. With the budgets to match.

U.S. Bishops, Vatican Slapped with Simultaneous Lawsuits. Church leaders accused of conspiracy, deception, concealment.

WASHINGTON (ChurchMilitant.com) by Stephen Wynne– On Tuesday, as the U.S. bishops were still absorbing the news that the Vatican had blocked action on clerical sex abuse, they were slapped with two simultaneous lawsuits, with one naming the Holy See as a defendant.

Both lawsuits seek to force open diocesan secret archives by court order, compelling the U.S. Church to reveal the identities and histories of its predators.

One suit, launched by six clerical sex abuse victims, was filed in federal district court in Minnesota. It alleges that the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) concealed “the known histories and identities from the public, parishioners and law enforcement of clergy accused of sexually abusing children across the country.”
