Watching WGN feed, and can see at least 50-60 police cars in the area surrounding the hospital. Some blocking intersections, but dozens just parked everywhere.
Must be a special alarm or tone they sound inside this hospital for active shootings…nurse just said she heard it and knew there was an active shooter. Mentioned having drills there, but didn't say when.

WGN just played the police radio traffic from when the shooting happened. It was about 90 minutes ago, but sure seems to have been released fast.
The police officer that was shot was actually taken to another hospital, one better suited for trauma. Go figure.
That could be. I also suspect they some are filmed and the footage used at a later date, when a real shooting is being reported.
There were 'region-wide' active shooter drills recently at area hospitals, according to person talking on WGN who works at Rush hospital.
Woman who heard the gunshots said it was a handgun. WGN said police called at an 'assault-style rifle'. There was a man on the scene who had videos on his phone of it happening, but reporter wanted to look at it first before being aired.
Strange. A nurse being interviewed outside the hospital was asked if she knew the employee that was killed. She said no, and that she didn't know their name.
As in she did not know who it was. But she knew she did not know them.
But how could someone not know the name, yet know that they don't know that person.
