Social networking app crashes for thousands around the world

Facebook’s messaging app has crashed for thousands of people around the globe.

Thousands of frustrated users in the US and across the Europe have complained they were affected by the issue.

According to the ‘Down Detector’, an online tool which maps website outages, a huge spike in complaints began just before 3pm on Monday.

The social networking site has not yet explained the cause for the widespread outage.
