They're stupid because they think they can defy the Will of God. They sell their souls for wealth and power for a few years in this world, but give up an eternity of joy with our Lord. They give up so much for so little. They can't see the Hand of God coming and think they can have their cake and it too. They're clever, cunning and yet very stupid. God wins. He always wins but they still think they defy and stop His Hand. Stupid, very stupid. Those that make their plans in accordance with His and keep the Faith will win with Him. Those that lose their faith will lose. Intelligence and cunning are not a substitute for Faith and Divine Wisdom. They are stupid, they will fail and spend eternity regretting their decisions.
