Australia Leaves UN Migration Pact — Won’t Risk ‘Hard-Won’ Border Control Success

Australia will not be signing up to the UN migration pact, Prime Minister Scott Morrison has said, explaining he was was not willing to risk the government’s successes in fighting people trafficking.

“The compact would risk encouraging illegal entry and reverse Australia’s hard-won successes in combating the people smuggling trade,” he said in a joint statement with Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton and Foreign Minister Marise Payne.

“We believe that the compact is inconsistent with our well-established policies and not in Australia’s interests,” asserted the ministers, adding that the document “fails to adequately distinguish between people who enter Australia illegally and those who come to Australia the right way, particularly with respect to the provision of welfare and other benefits”.

“We do not believe that adopting this agreement will add anything to enhancing our capacity to control our borders and manage our successful migration program.”

Mr Morrison was a major architect of Australia’s ‘Operation Sovereign Borders’ policy that brought an end to asylum seeker arrivals at sea, and the accompanying drowning deaths, by turning the boats back and building offshore processing centres in the Pacific islands.

“I would never allow something to compromise our borders, I worked too hard to ensure that we weren’t in that position,” the Australian premier, who is a devout Christian, told 2GB Radio on Tuesday.

Mr Dutton outlined some of the government’s concerns about signing up to the Global Compact on Safe and Orderly Migration in an interview with Sky News, noting that “certain obligations could be imposed [on signatories] where we needed to support people once they’d been returned back to a country of origin”.

“We’re concerned about whether or not it starves us as a sovereign nation of the ability to decide the way in which we can return people under the compact,” the Home Affairs Minister said.

Australia is the latest in a fast-growing list of countries which are refusing to commit to the UN agreement, with the government’s withdrawal coming shortly after announcements from Poland and Israel that their governments were pulling out of the compact, which is due to be signed in Marrakesh next month.

British student jailed for life for ‘spying’ on UAE, UK warns of ‘repercussions’

Durham University PhD student, Matthew Hedges has been sentenced to life in prison after allegedly spying on the United Arab Emirates for the UK, a court in Abu Dhabi has ruled.

Hedges' hearing reportedly only lasted five minutes and his lawyer was not present, according to a spokesperson for the family.

The student, from Exeter, Devon, has 30 days to appeal his convictions of spying and sharing sensitive security and intelligence information to third parties.

A life sentence in UAE includes a maximum of 25 years in jail and can be followed by deportation.

Hedges has denied all charges.

Following the sentencing, Prime Minister Theresa May vowed to raise Heges' case with UAE authorities "at the highest level."

While UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said: "I am deeply shocked and disappointed" by the UAE verdict, Reuters reports, adding it would have "repercussions for the relationship between our two countries."

According to his wife, Daniela Tejada, Hedges was in the UAE to conduct interviews for his doctoral thesis on the impact of the Emirates’ foreign and security strategy.

Tejada said that since his arrest on May 5, her husband had been held in solitary confinement with limited access to the UK consulate or his family.

Hedges’ research is said to have touched on highly contentious issues, such as the UAE military and the Saudi Arabia-led coalition’s war against Houthi rebels in Yemen, in which the Gulf nation is an influential participant.

The court said: "The Federal Appeals Court of Abu Dhabi sentenced Matthew Hedges, 31, to life imprisonment after being convicted of spying on the UAE and providing sensitive security and intelligence information to third parties.

"The court also ruled that he would be deported from the country after the execution of the sentence and would be charged the costs of the legal case.

"The court ordered the confiscation of all his equipment, devices, research and studies.

"The convicted person has the right to challenge the ruling with the State Security Department of the Federal Supreme Court within a maximum period of 30 days."

The incident has been a test of the UAE-UK’s so-called ‘special relationship.’ According to analysis of defense exports cleared by Liam Fox’s Department for International Trade (DIT), arms sales to the UAE rose by 94 percent to £260m in 2017.

Brussels rejects Italy budget, paves way for sanctions

The European Union took the first step on Wednesday toward fining Italy after ruling that the country's spending drive violates the bloc's fiscal rules. Brussels has rejected Rome's budget plan for 2019.

“The Commission confirms the existence of a particularly serious case of non-compliance,” the EU said in its annual review of euro-area nations’ spending plans referring to Italy’s 2019 budget. “With what the Italian government has put on the table, we see a risk of the country sleepwalking into instability.”

Brussels has repeatedly voiced concerns over Rome's borrow-and-spend plans, warning the Italian government that it could trigger another debt crisis that would hurt them all.

According to EU regulations, a member country’s public debt cannot be higher than 60 percent of its gross domestic product, or – if it is – has to be falling towards 60 percent at a satisfactory pace.

Rome has argued that boosting growth is the best way to bring down Italy’s debt-to-GDP ratio of over 130 percent.

Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini said that he won’t compromise on the budget plan’s core items like pension reform, citizens’ income, and lower taxes. He told reporters in Rome that he is, however, willing to make small changes in areas like investments, on which he is “open to dialogue with everyone.”

Italy could now face penalties from the European Union if it does not adjust its budget. Member countries may be sanctioned for breaching EU spending rules. Sanctions could be a fine of up to 0.2 percent of a country's GDP and the suspension of commitments or payments from EU structural funds of up to 0.5 percent.

According to Salvini, fines against Italy would be “disrespectful.” “We are convinced about the numbers in our budget. We will talk about it in a year's time,” he added.

Khan’s London City Hall Scraps Female Showers, Goes ‘Gender Neutral’

Sadiq Khan’s City Hall has replaced female toilets and shower rooms with “gender neutral” facilities, Breitbart London can reveal, prompting concerns the changes will be rolled out across the city and possibly put biological women at risk.

Sources inside the headquarters of the Greater London Authority (GLA) and the Mayor of London’s offices say the changes have been made in some of the staff areas on the upper floors.

Images passed to Breitbart London show new signs, which are claimed to have appeared this week, reading “Gender Neutral Toilets and Showers.” Some of the men’s toilets, with urinals, are still marked as for men.

The shower rooms have always been available to both men and women, but the sign on the door previously showed a man and a woman. The female toilets were previously marked as for females.

Other female toilets on the upper floor were also briefly changed to “gender neutral” before being changed back to “female,” a source said.

Breitbart London spoke to UKIP London Assembly Member and Education spokesman David Kurten, who commented of the changes:

“I often have both male and female visitors coming to see me to discuss London issues. Female staff and visitors to London Assembly Members no longer have their own toilet facilities.

“A number of staff told me that they were uncomfortable with the change and are worried about men coming into the toilets while they were using them.

“Nobody would have even considered changing the signs on the toilet doors a few years ago, but now City Hall, under Sadiq Khan as mayor, is willing to risk harming women’s comfort and safety for the sake of a politically correct agenda which the vast majority of the population do not agree with.

“There have always been men’s and women’s toilets, and everybody is happy with it that way apart from a few vociferous activists.

“It is concerning that this may just be the start of a process where all the toilets on the Greater London Estate including at Underground stations, bus stations, police stations, and in the Olympic Park may be replaced by gender-neutral facilities, which may put women at risk.”

Labour mayor Mr Khan and City Hall have failed to respond to requests for comment from Breitbart London, and it is not clear at this time who authorised the changes.

However, on November 27th last year, Mr Khan “outlined important measures today… encourag[ing] increased provision of gender-neutral toilets.”

Army Command Rejects Claim Border Troops Will Be Home by Christmas

A U.S. Army command undercut a Monday report by Politico suggesting that the military would start sending border troops home next week — just as migrants gather at the border — and that all troops would be home by Christmas.

On Tuesday, U.S. Army North — which manages soldiers within the United States — sent out an email saying:

We are continually assessing our resources and refining requirements in close coordination with DHS. We may shift some forces to other areas of the border to engineering support missions in California and other areas. No specific timeline for redeployment has been determined. We will provide more details as they become available.

The email was prompted by a Monday, November 19, report from Politico:

The general overseeing the deployment told POLITICO on Monday that the first troops will start heading home in the coming days as some are already unneeded, having completed the missions for which they were sent. The returning service members include engineering and logistics units whose jobs included placing concertina wire and other barriers to limit access to ports of entry at the U.S.-Mexico border.

All the troops should be home by Christmas, as originally expected, Army Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Buchanan said in an interview Monday.

“Our end date right now is 15 December, and I’ve got no indications from anybody that we’ll go beyond that,” said Buchanan, who leads the land forces of U.S. Northern Command.

The general’s statement that his orders extended to December 15 was widely touted by progressives as official confirmation that President Donald Trump’s deployment of troops to the border was merely an election-campaign stunt to magnify public fears about the caravan of economic migrants heading to the United States.

Military Times reported the reaction to the Politico article:

[T]he incoming [Democratic] chairman of the House Armed Services Committee said the operation was racially motivated, had politicized the military, and called for the troops to be pulled back home.

“The reports that President Trump is planning to withdraw some of the troops he sent to the border two weeks ago indicate just how empty, demagogic and racially motivated this political stunt was,” said Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash. “It appears to be an admission that there was no justification for the mission in the first place. It was not a respectful use of our military to take service members away from their duties and send them to the border as politicized props, and President Trump should not have done it.”

But the military deploys forces to an operation, moves them around in response to the tactical situation, and also rotates troops back to their base as replacement units arrive. Buchanan’s statement did not say there would be no movement of replacement troops to the border or that no troops would be deployed at the border during Christmas.

‘No Compromises’: Merkel Launches Passionate Defence of UN Migration Pact

Signing the UN migration pact will be “a win-win situation” for Germany, Angela Merkel has said, attacking concern over the controversial agreement as “nationalism in its purest form”.

As fierce debate over the so-called Global Compact for Safe and Orderly Migration continued to split her party, the Chancellor used her first speech since announcing she would not stand for re-election to give an impassioned defence of the document.

“This pact for migration, as well as the pact for refugees, is the right response to…solve global problems internationally and together,” she said during Wednesday’s general debate on the federal budget in the Bundestag.

Claiming the agreement would ensure “reasonable conditions” for migrants of the sort which already exist in Germany, such as access to welfare and healthcare, are put into place across the rest of the world, Merkel argued it would benefit the nation.

“That’s why it is in our national interest that the conditions around the world, for refugees on the one hand and migrants on the other, are improved … Otherwise, of course, people will say you only have a few countries you can go to, and try it and risk their lives,” she told lawmakers in Berlin.

In what was an “unusually passionate address” for the German leader, according to Reuters, Merkel then launched an attack on anyone with reservations about signing the pact with a nod to globalist French president Emmanuel Macron’s recent declaration that “patriotism is the exact opposite of nationalism [because] nationalism is treason”.

Asserting there could be “no compromises”, she said: “There are people who say they can solve everything themselves and don’t have to think about anyone else — that is nationalism in its purest form.

Venezuela's former treasurer took $1 billion US in bribes, newly unsealed court documents reveal

Alejandro Andrade received properties, platinum and gold Rolex watches and Mercedes-Benz cars thanks to scheme

Venezuela's former national treasurer admitted receiving over $1 billion US in bribes as part of illicit foreign currency operations that involved a local television mogul now indicted in U.S. courts, according to court documents unsealed on Tuesday.

Alejandro Andrade, who ran the treasury for four years under late socialist leader Hugo Chavez, received properties, platinum and gold Rolex watches and Mercedes Benz vehicles thanks to the scheme, the documents from the Southern District of Florida say.

He did so with the help of conspirators, including Raul Gorrin, owner of television station Globovision, who has been charged with paying bribes to Andrade and others as well as helping to launder the payments, according to the documents unsealed this week.

The cases are part of a broad effort by U.S. federal prosecutors to crack down on the use of the U.S. financial system to launder proceeds from rampant corruption in the crisis-stricken country that is suffering from hyperinflation.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has said little about criminal proceedings against former officials in his country but says the United States is seeking to undermine his government through financial sanctions.

The Venezuelan Information Ministry did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

Horses, homes, cars as kickbacks

Both Andrade, who was treasurer from 2007 to 2011, and Gorrin made vast sums taking advantage of Venezuela's exchange controls, according to the documents.

U.S. prosecutors also announced a guilty plea by Gabriel Jimenez, a Venezuelan citizen who admitted to conspiring with Gorrin and others to acquire Dominican Republic-based Banco Peravia and use it to help launder bribe money.

Reuters was unable to obtain comment from Andrade or Jimenez. Gorrin's defence attorney, Howard Srebnick, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

I thought it was some joke someone had put together to play on how there has been a long-standing goal of the elite/cabal to create a ‘new world order’ and what better way to start than babies and kids.

It all is shown in a new commercial where Celine Dion is breaking into a hospital baby ward to help bring her new clothing line to babies. The company Celinununu states in its mission: CELINUNUNU unites two forces by one voice: fashion has the power to shape people’s minds. Inspire your children to be free and find their own individuality through clothes.

The commercial for the product line is interesting on its own. She plays the ‘saviour’ of these babies, against police who are trying to stop her from telling these babies it’s OK to not select a gender. After she sneaks in, gets to the baby ward, she blows a magical dust onto the children, suddenly turning them all into gender-neutral babies wearing her clothing line. In cabal/occult terms, one might look at this as casting a spell on the children, something that fits deeply into the constant confusion the cabal is trying to cast on humanity.

One of the long-discussed plans of the elite/cabal has been to create a New World Order. Part of that order involves bringing everyone under one religion, one government, one military, and stopping things like procreation etc so as to have to control fewer people. This is why it’s so odd that the focus of this clothing line seems to push towards ‘New Order’ while talking about a highly controversial issue. Amazon Rolling Out ‘Amazon Pay’ Digital Wallet In Physical Stores

As FAANG stocks lead the market lower during what has become a relentless Q4 selloff, Amazon is hoping to reassure anxious investors that the company’s relentless expansion and revenue growth will continue. To wit, the company is taking another big step toward establishing itself as the American WeChat or Alipay as it seeks to become the dominant player in electronic consumer payments in the US and beyond. According to the Wall Street Journal, the e-commerce giant is hoping to undercut Apple’s Apple Pay by persuading more brick-and-mortar merchants to accept its Amazon Pay digital wallet.

As it tries to build a foothold in payments outside of its Amazon Go stores, the company is reportedly focusing on building partnerships with restaurants and gas stations (businesses that have yet to be scalped by the Bezos revenue-absorption machine). To entice owners to give Amazon Pay a try, the company is dangling what appears to be a pretty enticing carrot: Amazon is promising to lower processing costs at a time when so-called “interchange” fees charged by Visa and MasterCard have been rising.

The mechanics of how customers will use the soon-to-be rolled out Amazon Pay haven’t been revealed: It’s unclear whether customers will scan product barcodes on their phones, or simply tap their phones at checkout kiosks. Apple has a slight advantage in the digital payments space – more than 5 million US merchants now accept its Apple Pay platform. However, unlike their Chinese peers where digital cash has become the de facto standard, US consumers have been reluctant to adopt digital wallets; fewer than 1% of all US card transactions. In China, paying street vendors in cash has become a thing of the past, as AliPay, TenPay and WeChat Pay have attracted more than half a million users.

Amazon Pay has been growing in digital sales. Over the past year, the number of online shoppers using Amazon Pay outside of Amazon.com has climbed to some 14% of online shoppers, according to Bernstein Research. But in-person payments are still lacing; Amazon is also pushing customers at its Whole Foods stores to start using Amazon Pay, which so far is only in regular use at Amazon’s handful of Amazon Go locations.

The Amazon Pay push in the US follows the company’s introduction of the service in Japan, where Amazon believes it will have an easier time convincing consumers who already use digital wallets to switch to Amazon. Amazon Japan has partnered with Nippon Pay to utilize the service at businesses in Tokyo and Fukuoka, according to Nikkei Asian Review.

If the progress in China has any bearing on the pace of adoption in the US, soon, paying with cash – and even physical credit cards – will be a thing of the past. For better or worse, global consumer commerce is inexorably moving toward a cashless society. And Jeff Bezos wants to make sure that his company will take an early lead.
