Camp Fire Updates

The number of fatalities has risen to 81 in the wake of the devastating Camp Fire that started nearly two weeks ago, but there were two pieces of welcome news Wednesday: rain started to fall, and (Chico native) Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers started a recovery fund with a $1 million donation.

The update from Cal Fire indicated that containment has risen to 80 percent and full containment is expected on Nov. 30. Full containment means the fire would be surrounded by control lines.

Acreage burned has risen to 153,336 acres, consuming 13,503 homes, 275 multi-family dwellings, and 514 businesses, according to Cal Fire.

List of those unaccounted for in Camp Fire rises to 869 names

The number of people missing and unaccounted for in the Camp Fire rose again late Tuesday.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office said the number of names on the list now contains 869 names. More than 200 names were added after the Sheriff’s Office combed through voices mails from the fire, which started Nov. 8.
