Oregon AG Sues Trump Over Sanctuary State Funding – Oregon’s 18th Lawsuit, Costing Over $100,000

Oregon “attorney general” Ellen Rosenblum has filed a lawsuit in federal court against the Trump administration because federal funding for law enforcement is being withheld due to Oregon’s “sanctuary state” status for illegal aliens.

Oregon Public Broadcasting reports:

Oregon sued the Trump administration Friday over a requirement the state work with immigration authorities if it wants to receive more than $4 million in federal grants.

The U.S. Department of Justice distributes Byrne JAG grants, which are used by jurisdictions across the country to help law enforcement fund new initiatives and fight crime.

Last November, the Department of Justice released a list of jurisdictions it says weren’t complying with 8 U.S.C. 1373, a federal law that promotes information sharing between local law enforcement and the federal government when it comes to immigration enforcement.

The list included both Multnomah County and the state of Oregon.

Oregon is a sanctuary state and prohibits local and state resources from enforcing federal immigration law if a person’s only crime is being the the country unlawfully.

“Defendants have implied in correspondence with Oregon officials that these statutes violate federal law by preventing cooperation between law enforcement and immigration authorities,” Oregon’s lawsuit states. “But in the statutes requiring Defendants to distribute Byrne JAG funds to states and localities, Congress did not impose any condition requiring states to have laws that aid Defendants’ implementation of federal immigration policy.”

In 2017, Oregon lawmakers passed another bill aimed and strengthening the state’s sanctuary law. That bill prohibits public agencies from releasing personal information for “the purpose of enforcement of federal immigration laws.” The statue makes exceptions for information required by state or federal law.

“For years, these grants have provided millions of dollars to law enforcement in Oregon,” Rosenblum said in a statement. “Suddenly these public safety funds have been withdrawn because Oregon will not submit to U.S. DOJ’s demand that Oregon participate in its immigration enforcement efforts.”

The U.S. DOJ withheld more than $2 million from the state in 2017, the lawsuit states. Oregon officials says they also don’t expect to receive the $2 million applied for this year.

California and Illinois have filed similar lawsuits.

This is at least the 18th lawsuit against Trump that Oregon has filed, which has cost Oregon taxpayers over $100,000 as of this past June.

This is the same “department of justice” that can’t keep track of 1000 convicted predatory sex offenders.

Ellen Rosenblum prefers to have rapists and child molesters walking the streets as long as it means pursuing frivolous, grandstanding lawsuits against President Trump in defense of illegal aliens.

Departing Facebook comms chief says critics were targeted

San Francisco (AFP) – The outgoing head of Facebook’s communications team on Wednesday took responsibility for the hiring of a conservative consulting firm accused of using “black ops” style techniques, acknowledging critics including investor George Soros were targeted.

Facebook’s chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg has pledged a “thorough” review of its use of Definers to deflect criticism from the social networking giant.

She and Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg maintain they were surprised by a New York Times story last week that said the social network was using Definers to link social network critics to liberal financier George Soros.

The Hungarian-born US financier and philanthropist is a favorite target of nationalists and anti-Semitic conspiracy theorists.

Definers was hired in 2017 as part of an effort to diversify its advisors in Washington, in the face of growing pressure by competitors and media companies for Facebook to be regulated by the government, Elliot Schrage said in a message to co-workers posted online.

“We asked Definers to do what public relations firms typically do to support a company – sending us press clippings, conducting research, writing messaging documents, and reaching out to reporters,” Schrage said.

“As the pressure on Facebook built throughout the year, the Communications team used Definers more and more.”

Definers began looking into Soros after the philanthropist labelled Facebook a “menace to society” in a speech at Davos early this year, according to Schrage.

“We had not heard such criticism from him before and wanted to determine if he had any financial motivation,” Schrage said.

“Definers researched this using public information.”

Anonymous 'Santa' Donors Pay $500,000 Towards Presents Across The Country

Mystery 'Santa' donors all across the country have paid a total of approximately $500,000 towards toys, televisions, clothes, just in time for the holidays.

Tuesday, an anonymous donor, wanting to do something 'special' on his birthday, paid off more than $106,000 in layaways for other shoppers, at two Walmart stores in Cleveland, Ohio.

This, just after an anonymous donor paid a tab totaling 180,000 at two Pennsylvania stores on Monday, and another donor paid off $200,000 at two Florida stores.

Shoppers place items on layaway and pay a deposit to secure it before paying off the balance at a later date. These items include toys, 70-inch televisions, clothes…

Cathie Cromwell was picking up her son's gifts at one of the Cleveland stores and told WCPO: “I just cried. It's amazing someone would have this much compassion during the Christmas season to help us. To help people who maybe wouldn't have had Christmas.”

A single anonymous donor paid off nearly $70,000 for the layaway items at the Steelyard Commons store in Cleveland and nearly $36,000 in nearby Lorain.

Tara Neal said she had paid $10 on a bed for her three-year-old daughter and she was told Tuesday that the remaining balance of over $80 was paid in full. She said it was 'like Santa.'

She said, with four kids at home the holidays can be tough.

Walmart responded with the following statement:

'This isn't the first time local do-gooders have paid off layaway tabs. In 2013, someone paid off $8,800 at the Avon Walmart.

'And in southern Ohio, last year, someone paid off $15,000 at a Moraine store and in 2012, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported that a former shoplifter paid off $1,000 in goods at a Lockland store.

'Managers said the man made it very clear he wanted to remain anonymous.'

'Santa B' offered the sum to the Mechanicsburg store in a check Monday morning,

Wal-Mart manager Steve Myers told the website the store has previously received gifts between $2,000 and $3,000.

'He said he wanted to help take care of folks – to bring everyone a special Christmas,' Myers said.

The manager told PennLive.com that 100 layaway balances came to approximately $50,000.

He stated that 'Santa B' instructed money left over from his check should be donated.

Myers stayed that 'Santa B''s was from nearby and wanted to remain anonymous.

John Forest Ales, a Wal-Mart spokesman, told the website of the check 'It's not the record, but it's certainly high.'

Speaking to Fox43, shopper Brittny Coeyman said 'We were scraping together the last few minutes here to pay for it, we were actually going to have to return a couple things.'

She also said, 'Just thank you so much, it’s a miracle for not just us but for so many people. And there’s nothing else I could ask for for Christmas.'

Annette Cray told WCJB: 'First I thought it was a joke, and then I called the store and found out it was true and I was, I just started hollering I was so happy.'

Employees said this was the second year in a row someone had paid off the layaways.

Last Wednesday, a female 'layaway angel' gave $20,000 to a Bellingham, Massachusetts, Toys R Us.

Cali businessman to give $1,000 to each student, employee at fire-devastated high school

A San Diego-area resident was so moved by media coverage of the Camp Fire in Paradise, California, that he’s donating more than $1 million to the students and employees of Paradise High School, according to the Enterprise-Record.

Bob Wilson, a development company executive and restaurant chain partner, has never been to Paradise before. But he knows how important high school was to him, and he wanted to do anything possible to make sure those kids got their own high school experience.

“When I read about what happened in the L.A. Times, it occurred to me how significant high school was to me,” Wilson said. “It was the last carefree time in my life.”

So, every student and employee at Paradise High School will receive a $1,000 check at an assembly Tuesday — all 980 students and 105 employees.

“Someone asked me, ‘Do you know how much money that is?'” Wilson told the Enterprise-Record. “Yeah, the math is easy.”

‘People unfortunately will forget about them’

Wilson wanted to have a significant and lasting impact on the lives of the Paradise High School families, knowing that when the media coverage of the devastation stops, people around the country will move on from the situation.

“You have to take your chances, we’re getting them the money they need now,” Wilson said. “I want them to have the feeling that someone cares about them. Because when all the newspapers and TV people leave, people unfortunately will forget about them.”

Wilson decided against giving everyone gift cards or bank accounts, or giving the money through a foundation, because he didn’t want there to be any obstacles to them accessing the money. He decided to trust the families to use the money for what’s best for them.

“We’ve got to get them back into high school,” Wilson said. “If $1,000 will help do that, then OK.”

Former ICE Chief Homan: The Ninth Circuit Doesn’t Believe in the Rule of Law

Wednesday on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) director Thomas Homan said judges in the 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals didn’t “believe in the rule of law.”

When asked about the judgment against Trump’s attempt to refuse asylum to people who enter into the country illegally, Homan said, “Two weeks ago I told you this would happen. When the president first came out, I was asked by Fox News how long it would take to get a lawsuit. I said within 24 to 48 hours. The Ninth Circuit has shown over and over again that they don’t believe in the rule of law. Look, the reason the caravan is here, to begin with, we have one Ninth Circuit court judge says we can’t detain families more than 20 days. We have another Ninth Circuit judge saying you can’t separate families. We have another Ninth Circuit judge saying you can violate laws of this country, enter this country illegally, which is a crime. For those who want to look it up, it’s a crime to enter this country illegally. Your own cameras were inside the caravan. Many folks are saying they’ve been deported once before and are coming back when you re-enter the United States after being deported once that’s a felony. We have more than 500 criminals in the group. We just open the gates. Now you can enter illegally, get the same due process as those who come through the port of entry doing it the right way.”.

Homan added, “I was called a fear-mongerer, but unfortunately I was right. Based on this ruling, there will be more caravans, instead of waiting in line like they were going to do in the safety and security of a port of entry protected by law enforcement. Now more caravans will come, enter illegally, put themselves in the hands of criminal organizations. We’re gonna bankroll smuggling organizations, and drug cartels who control the corridors heading to the border and these people will be put at risk. Women will be raped. People will die crossing the border. Children will drown, people will be misused by the criminal organizations as we’ve seen over and over again.”

Facebook's Zuckerberg Pushed A Top Executive To Publicly Disavow Support For Trump, Then Fired Him

In one of the most shocking stories to get little media coverage this year, The Wall Street Journal reported ten days ago that Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg pressured a top executive at his company to apologize for his support of President Trump in the 2016 election, and issue a letter just before that election explaining that he had switched his support to libertarian Gary Johnson.

According to reporters Kirsten Grind and Keach Hagey, Oculus founder Palmer Luckey says that he was put on leave and then fired for his support for Trump. The Journal reported:

In the fall of 2016, as unhappiness over the donation simmered, Facebook executives including Mr. Zuckerberg pressured Mr. Luckey to publicly voice support for libertarian candidate Gary Johnson, despite Mr. Luckey’s yearslong support of Mr. Trump, according to people familiar with the conversations and internal emails viewed by The Wall Street Journal.

Luckey ended up negotiating a $100 million settlement, an acceleration of stock awards and bonuses that he would have received thanks to his sale of Oculus VR to Facebook in 2014. Facebook, for its part, denied that Luckey was fired for his political views. But Luckey was a supporter of President Trump’s for years, going back to 2011, when he urged Trump to run for president by mail. In September 2016, The Daily Beast reported that Luckey had given a $10,000 donation to NimbleAmerica, an anti-Hillary ad group focused on trolling the Democratic candidate. Luckey then apparently posted on a Reddit chain under a pseudonym regarding Clinton:

Hillary Clinton is corrupt, a warmonger, a freedom-stripper. Not the good kind you see dancing in bikinis on Independence day, the bad kind that strips freedom from citizens and grants it to donors.

Facebook employees complained about Luckey both via message boards and at a town hall, with engineering director Srinivas Narayanan writing, “Multiple women have literally teared up in front of me in the last few days,” and some developers stating that they wouldn’t work with Luckey. Luckey denied he had posted about Clinton under a pseudonym, and added that he was a libertarian who would vote for Gary Johnson.

The Journal report continues:

“I need to tell you that Mark [Zuckerberg] himself drafted this and details are critical,” Facebook Deputy General Counsel Paul Grewal wrote to a lawyer for Mr. Luckey in a September 2016 email, attaching an early draft of the statement, according to the emails reviewed by the Journal. The draft said Mr. Luckey wouldn’t be supporting Mr. Trump in the election. Mr. Luckey has told people he did vote for Mr. Johnson, but only to avoid having his credibility questioned if he was asked about the issue under oath in unrelated litigation. The apology went through many drafts, and Mr. Luckey ultimately approved changes suggested by Facebook, according to people familiar with the process.

Facebook has consistently denied political bias in its programming. But Zuckerberg himself has admitted the company’s left-leaning tendencies, explaining to Congress that Silicon Valley is an “extremely left-leaning place.” Conservative companies have accused Facebook of tailoring its algorithms politically, damaging conservative traffic particularly in early 2017; according to Western Journal, Facebook has now corrected its algorithms to distribute traffic more equitably. Still, Silicon Valley’s overwhelming Leftist bias has been on full display in cases ranging from Twitter’s banning process to Google’s firing of James Damore. The story of Palmer Luckey is just another black mark on Silicon Valley’s record.

Alleged rapist, aged in his twenties, is facing Norway's biggest criminal sex case

The country's prosecutor's office says 300 boys aged 13 to 16 were targeted

The suspect, said to be a referee, allegedly pretended to be a woman online

He then convinced the boys to perform sexual acts, it has been claimed

Norwegian authorities have charged a man in his twenties with sexual offences involving some 300 teenage boys - the biggest such case in the country's history.

The man, said to be a football referee, allegedly adopted female personas in chat forums to target boys on the internet, according to Norwegian media.

He then convinced the victims to engage in sexual acts - which he filmed - with promises of erotic photos in return, it is claimed.

'The case is a serious one, and it is the biggest case of sexual abuse in Norway to date,' state prosecutor Guro Hansson Bull said in a statement.

According to the prosecutor's office, about 300 boys aged 13 to 16 were targeted since 2011, in Norway and other Nordic countries.

One of the charges facing him is rape, according to reports.

The man 'admits the facts,' his lawyer Gunhild Laerum told broadcaster NRK, but has yet to respond to each individual charge.

The trial will be held in 2019.

Who Killed Jamal Khashoggi? Did US Intelligence have Prior Knowledge?

Who ordered the killing of Jamal Khashoggi? “The CIA and the White House are at odds over who’s responsible for what happened.” (See Stephen Lendman, GR, November 21, 2018).

According to media reports, Langley is pointing its finger at Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman (MBS).

Prior to the official release of the CIA report, the Washington Post (16 November) reported that

“The CIA has concluded that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul last month” (WaPo, November 16, 2018, emphasis added).

“In reaching its conclusions, the CIA examined multiple sources of intelligence… “The accepted position is that there is no way this happened without him [Crown Prince MBS] being aware or involved,” said a U.S. official familiar with the CIA’s conclusions. A spokesman for the CIA declined to comment”.

Follow the play of words in the above quotation. The “accepted position” by an unnamed “US official” has not been confirmed by the Agency.

Awareness by Crown Prince MBS does not necessarily imply that MBS had ordered the assassination.

The Khashoggi affair has the features of a carefully designed intelligence operative (with followup propaganda) rather than a “hit and kill” political assassination.

The way the killing was undertaken, its gruesome details were used to highlight the event which from one day to the next was plastered on UK-US news tabloids. And the relentless news coverage of this hideous event is still ongoing.

According to reports, the hit team had a lieutenant-colonel forensic pathologist together with two members of Saudi intelligence (GIP), members of the Saudi Air Forces and Army (see list in annex).
