well IMHO you use it as a kind of crutch. I dont consider pot as a drug. More like a medication. Keeps me from getting depressed. I can tel you this. My old man came back from vietnam hooked on opium. He smoked pot for over 40 years to keep the addiction of opium away. And it also helped with his post tramatic syndrome. Had he not smoked pot, he would have died in prison after killing someone. He hated society. Pot saved many peoples lives in that case.
