It is a given that these people are panicking, because they know Trump isn't one of them and they are no longer protected. I think they first believed Trump would be removed, or worse, and had nothing to worry about. They are certainly realizing that isn't going to happen, have plenty to fear, and it is only logical that they are petrified.
