They're making a market. Just consider the crazy concept of carbon credits which are tradeable instruments. The underlying asset is a negative - financial value created out of not doing something. Imagine the possibilities. We could trade social credits awarded for not being antisocial - oops, already done. Perhaps we could make a market in not-beating-your-wife credits. Smoke and mirrors but money is always at the root.
