Paul exhorted all to speak in tongues much. For it is perfect praise, perfect prayer to the Father. I pray in tongues, and I pray with the understanding, also. He that worships, MUST worship in spirit and truth. Or, more accurately, truthfully via the spirit. Or by speaking in tongues. For speaking in tongues is the evidence of the indwelling of holy spirit given when one believes on the Lord Jesus and believes that God raised him from the dead.

Do all who have received holy spirit speak in tongues? No.

CAN all who receive holy spirit speak in tongues? Yes.

It's a matter of understanding the truth of the matter and desiring to manifest. That you speak in tongues is your desire or will. What you speak is energized by God.

In OT oftentimes the Hebrew idiom of permission must be understood. As in "God allowed it". [No credit ever given to the Adversary in this manner]. Refer to Job. He never blamed God. He knew there was an adversary who brought his distress. And he knew it was his own believing that brought it on himself.

In Abraham's case: God allowed the temptation. And realize God never asked Abraham to sacrifice his son. He asked Abraham to offer Isaac as a burnt offering. That is, to offer him in complete service to God. To give him over to God to accomplish His purpose.

Abraham's own logic led him to think God wanted him to sacrifice his son [likely being confused with the Baal worship sacrifice in the culture].

So we see God intervening with the angel basically saying, no dumb ass Abraham, that's not what I meant, but thanks for the effort. It shows you have the right heart in the matter. Here burn this ram instead, but I need Isaac alive….
