Not sure what the charismatic churches are doing. I don't attend such. Nor do I follow false teachers.
"The works that I do, GREATER works than these shall ye do, because I go to the Father."
The works of Christ include manifesting the following:
Word of Knowledge
Word of Wisdom
Discerning of spirits
Believing
Gifts of healing
Miracles
These are all manifestations of the holy spirit. Which was upon Christ (it descended on him like a dove, remember?). This same holy spirit was upon many of the prophets also. Evidenced by their miracles performed among other actions. You simply cannot fully understand or perceive the depth of the Word without recognizing the operation and manifestation of holy spirit.
We are to do GREATER works than Christ. Not the SAME EQUAL works, but GREATER works.
Holy spirit within, the gift of eternal life, the down payment of future glory, is the greater works accomplished by God. This is manifested in speaking in tongues as evidence to the believer of his eternal standing. That's pretty GREAT.
"WE" don't do shit, friend. It is the power of God working within us to will and to do of His good pleasure that accomplishes healings, casting out devils, miracles. And it is according to His will and our believing to do His will. Word of Wisdom. Word of Knowledge.
