European security held hostage by Washington’s geopolitical games – Lavrov
The blindness of the EU bureaucrats allows the US to instigate dangerous military activity near Russian borders, jeopardizing the security of the whole European continent, Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s Foreign Minister, said.
The Ukrainian crisis, which was used as a justification for sanctions against Moscow, is “a result of geopolitical games, played by the US and their allies in several countries, as well as the blindness of the bureaucrats in Brussels,” Lavrov, who was visiting Portugal on Saturday, said in an interview with local Publico paper.
The EU leadership “not only sacrificed it’s principles and values by turning a blind eye to the armed coup in Kiev, in which a democratically elected president was deposed, but followed Washington’s lead and joined the anti-Russian sanctions,” he added.
In February 2014, Ukrainian President, Viktor Yanukovich, was removed from power as a result of a violent uprising, in which a key role was played by the radical nationalist groups. A few months later, the new government in Kiev launched the so-called “anti-terrorist operation” in the south-east of the country after the local population refused to recognize the results of the coup.
The conflict in Donbas, which has claimed more than 10,000 lives, is still ongoing as the Ukrainian authorities don’t seem willing to commit to the truce earlier reached with the Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk.
“And what have we now?” Lavrov wondered. “The architecture of dialogue between Russia and the EU is seriously damaged; the European producers suffer multi-billion losses [due to sanctions and countermeasures by Moscow]; there’s a new conflict in Europe.”
Meanwhile, the Americans, who are directly responsible for the “unhealthy situation” in Europe, “suffer no losses,” he said.
“Moreover, they use this situation to instigate dangerous military activity near the Russian borders by spinning new arms races in our neighborhood where, we hoped, there was no place for a new Cold War,” the FM said, referring to the massive NATO buildup in Eastern Europe in recent years.
The security of Europe and its nations “is becoming a hostage of the destructive policies, carried out from the other side of the Atlantic,” he said.

Earlier Saturday, it was reported the Trump administration reached a deal with Mexico which will make asylum seekers wait in Mexico while their cases are processed.
Under Obama’s ‘catch and release’ policy, illegal aliens would often just disappear into the US population and ignore orders to appear in court regarding their immigration status.
There are now 5,000 to 6,000 illegal caravan migrants in Tijuana, Mexico waiting to seek asylum into the United States.
According to estimates 500 of those migrants are criminals.

Child Rapists, Killer Busted near Texas Border
Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector stopped several criminal aliens and three gang members from making their way successfully into the U.S. interior. Those arrested included two child rapists, two killers, a member of the 18th Street gang and two MS-13 gang members.
On the day before Thanksgiving, McAllen Station agents arrested a man who illegally crossed the border from Mexico near the town of Hidalgo, Texas. During processing at the station, agents discovered the man is a Honduran national and a confirmed member of the 18th Street gang. Later that same day, other agents working near Hidalgo arrested a Salvadoran man who illegally crossed the border. Records showed that man is a confirmed Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member.
Agents working near the border town of Los Ebanso, Texas arrested a Mexican national who illegally re-entered the U.S. after being deported. The deportation stemmed from an arrest and conviction in Tukwila, Washington, for the rape of a child. The court sentenced the Mexican man to 41 months in prison and three years probation.
Rio Grande City Station agents patrolling near Roma, Texas, on Wednesday also took a child predator off the streets. The agents arrested a Salvadoran man after he illegally re-entered the U.S. from Mexico. During processing, agents learned from court records that the man received a conviction in Aurora, Colorado, for sexual assault of a child. The Colorado court sentenced the illegal alien to three years in prison.
On Thanksgiving Day, McAllen Station agents stopped a Mexican man from successfully re-entering the U.S. Records revealed the mad received a conviction in Hickory, North Carolina, for involuntary manslaughter. The court sentenced the man to three years in prison.
Late last week, Weslaco Station agents arrested another Salvadoran MS-13 gang member who illegally crossed the border near Pharr, Texas. A biometric investigation revealed the Salvadoran national has an active homicide arrest warrant issued by his home country.
All of the migrants will be processed according to Rio Grande Valley Sector protocols. Several of the illegal aliens could face prosecution in the Southern District of Texas for illegal re-entry after removal as a sex offender or an aggravated felon.
Breitbart News has reported extensively on previously deported sex offenders and other criminal aliens who are stopped by Border Patrol agents from successfully re-entering the United States.

Russian MoD to Discuss New Aleppo Chlorine Shelling With Ankara
Russia intends to discuss with Turkey the attack on Syria's Aleppo by militants who used shells filled with poisonous substances, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov told reporters on Sunday.
"The Russian side intends to discuss this incident with the Turkish side as a guarantor of adherence to the cessation of hostilities by the armed opposition in Idlib de-escalation zone," Konashenkov said.
On Saturday, militants from terrorist groups fired chlorine-filled shells at neighborhoods of al-Khalidiye and Al Zahraa as well as the Nile Street. Dozens were reportedly hospitalized with asphyxiation and other symptoms typical for poisoning.
The governor of the Syrian province of Aleppo, Hussein Diyab told local media that this incident is an obvious confirmation of the possession of chemical weapons by terrorists.
Russian Defense Ministry spokesman told reporters on Sunday that a special army team arrived in Aleppo to "work with the injured taken to medical institutions, monitor the situation in the area where the militants used poisonous substances."
On Thursday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that difficulties in establishment of a demilitarized zone in Idlib remained.
On September 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed at talks in the Russian resort city of Sochi to set up a demilitarized zone in Idlib along the contact line of the armed opposition and the government forces.
