National Lawyers Guild Caught Helping Migrants Gain Entry into USA
A week ago, the NYT published “Migrant Caravan Is Just Yards From U.S. Border, but Long Wait Lies Ahead.” A couple of days later, Breitbart picked on up a small but significant item of news: that lawyers with the National Lawyers Guild, “a Soros-backed organization,” have been giving legal advice to migrants trying to enter the country by “explain[ing] the basics of asylum law.” It quoted Gilbert Saucedo, an LA lawyer from the National Lawyers Guild: “People don’t flee their country and go through the arduous trip on foot unless the situation is desperate.”

The Saucedo statement is flat-out propaganda that feeds the false MSM narrative that the caravan movement is about fleeing violence and seeking asylum in the US. Both Ami Horowitz and Judicial Watch have disproven this narrative by asking people why they make the trip; virtually all of them say for economic opportunity (see the screenshot). So what these lawyers are almost certainly doing is coaching the migrants to lie to border officials.

[1] THE NATIONAL LAWYER’S GUILD was established in 1937 as part of the socialist labor movement. So it’s very old and well-entrenched as a far left-wing activist group with a membership of lawyers.
Website statement: The NLG is dedicated to the need for basic change in the structure of our political and economic system. Our aim is to bring together all those who recognize the importance of safeguarding and extending the rights of workers, women, LGBTQ people, farmers, people with disabilities and people of color, upon whom the welfare of the entire nation depends; who seek actively to eliminate racism; who work to maintain and protect our civil rights and liberties in the face of persistent attacks upon them; and who look upon the law as an instrument for the protection of the people, rather than for their repression.

They sponsor the National Immigration Project (NIP-NLG), whose aim is to “provide technical assistance and support to legal practitioners, immigrant communities, community-based organizations, and all advocates seeking and working to advance the rights of noncitizens.” Why do they want to “advance the rights of non-citizens”? Because Communism always seeks to destroy national identity in favor of some kind of collective identity based on Marxist principles.
One of the main projects of the NIP-NLG is the Immigrant Defense Project. Dan Kesselbrenner has been its Executive Director for 32 years, although he is retiring, according to the website.

[2] GILBERT SAUCEDO is co-President of the LA Chapter of the NLG and is active in immigrants’ rights cases and an opponent of DJT’s position on strong borders. So he advances the NLG the immigrants-as-asylum-seekers narrative to gain sympathy for migrants.
