Mexican/Honduran kids are not lighter skin color than their parents.
Their kids are dark-skinned and if they have been outside walking in a caravan for weeks, the should be nearly black.
It seemed pretty weird to me for the kids to go spend more time away from heir families after being in one of the most traumatic experiences ever for days.
