Resistance against UN Migration Pact is increasing rapidly in Europe

Rejection of the UN Migration Pact Increases. With many of the mind that it should be stopped, the UN Migration Pact has been determined by legal experts as the thin end of the wedge as the UN could at any time once agreed change it from non-binding to binding.

The current list of European member states withdrawing support is growing. The latest country to reject the UN Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration is Slovakia, joining ranks with Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Poland and hopefully Italy.

The agreement is set to be formally approved in December 2018 in Morocco. Also, in Lithuania critics fear that the pact will increase irregular migration and restrict state sovereignty.

The Lithuanian parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs has doubts and has requested additional information fearing that the pact will lead to an increase in illegal migrant flows and leave countries with less power to implement their own migration policies.

“Before sending the interior minister to vote in favour of it, the government must analyse the concerns of many of our very good allies, such as America, Israel and most of Central European countries.

The Baltic countries have a lot of concerns,” Conservative MP Zygimantas Pavilionis, a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, said Friday.

Swedish headmaster wears dress to school – to “break norms”

Henrik Theorin, headmaster at Hagaskolan in Umeå, wears nail varnish and sometimes also a dress to work.

“I want to show the students that it’s actually okay for a guy to wear a dress if he wants to,” says Theorin to SVT. No, it’s not a delayed right-wing April fools’ joke.

In an interview with SVT, where he also shows off his dress, Henrik Theorin says that it all started with the school having its own Pride Week.

“I think it’s important to show the students that you can look however you want,” he says. “It’s nothing I do everyday but I want to show that it’s possible to break standards,” he says.

The male headmaster says that he’s been wearing nail varnish at work now and then “for a few years”. He may have been inspired by Fredrik Plahn, former headmaster at preschools and schools in Tyresö.

Plahn was praised in the media when he, in 2014, announced on Facebook that he wore nail varnish in “all colours of the rainbow” at work. The purpose was, according to Plahn, to “challenge the heteronorm”.

Today, Fredrik Plahn is working as a headmaster in multicultural Botkyrka, and it is unclear whether he has brought the nail varnish to the new workplace.

Democrats Highlight Kamala Harris’s Race As Her Removal From The Senate Judiciary Committee Appears Likely

Liberals are preparing for Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris’s possible expulsion from the Senate Judiciary Committee by highlighting she is a black woman.

In the event that Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith wins the Mississippi runoff election on Nov. 27, the makeup of the Senate Judiciary Committee will shift in favor of the GOP, with a seat currently held by a Democrat flipping red. Consequently, Harris, the most junior Democratic member of the committee, will likely be squeezed out.

“Not only would it be unconscionable to remove the only African American woman from the committee, but Senator Harris also is the most skilled questioner on the entire panel,” Brian Fallon, the former press secretary for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, said according to The Washington Post. “Whatever options they need to consider, removing Harris should not be one of them.”

Fallon is the executive director of Demand Justice, a progressive advocacy organization founded to oppose President Donald Trump’s judicial nominations — the Senate Judiciary Committee’s role is to oversee and consider executive nominations. Fallon added that “the backlash would be so intense” if Harris is removed.

“She’s a real lawyer, she is the real deal, she’s a pro, and she also happens to be an African American woman,” Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut said according to WaPo. “She belongs on that committee … she is an ideal member.”

Democrats have been urging Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to expand the Judiciary Committee so that Harris can preserve her seat, however, no other Senate Judiciary Committee members thus far have offered up their own seats so that she can remain on the committee, including Blumenthal.

McConnell has no incentive to expand the Judiciary Committee except to avoid left-wing backlash.

Blumenthal noted that after Democrats lost the Senate majority in 2014, the committee “magically” expanded the number of seats for him. McConnell’s office has yet to comment on the committee’s party breakdown, however, it is rumored that GOP Sen.-elect Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee may be considered for a Republican seat, reported WaPo.

Harris’s spokeswoman said that the California senator would like to retain her seat on the committee.

None of the Democratic members on the Senate Judiciary Committee responded to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request to comment.

Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn arrested over ‘misconduct’

Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn has been arrested over claims of financial misconduct, the carmaker has said.

Mr Ghosn, a towering figure in the car industry, will be sacked from the Japanese firm after a board meeting on Thursday, its chief executive said.

He has been accused of “significant acts of misconduct”, including under-reporting his pay package and personal use of company assets.

Nissan said it was unable to give further details on the offences.

Japanese prosecutors have yet to comment on Mr Ghosn’s arrest.

Nissan is the world’s sixth-largest carmaker and its site in Sunderland is the UK’s biggest car plant.

“I feel despair, indignation and resentment.” said Nissan chief executive Hiroto Saikawa at a news conference. “As the details are disclosed I believe that people will feel the same way as I feel today.”

Mr Saikawa said Nissan would now try to “stabilise the situation, and normalise day-to-day operations” for staff and business partners.

It said it had been conducting an internal investigation for several months, prompted by a whistleblower.

According to Japanese media reports, which have not been confirmed, he under-reported an amount totalling 5bn yen (£34m) over a five-year period from 2011.

Mr Ghosn was paid 735m yen (£5.1m) by Nissan in the most recent financial year, 227m yen (£1.6m) by Mitsubishi and €7.4m (£6.6m) by Renault – a total of about £13.3m.

Mr Saikawa said he believed the misconduct “went on for a long period”.

From 2010, Japanese firms have been required to disclose the salaries of executives who earn more than 100m yen.

Ocasio-Cortez compares members of migrant caravan to Jews fleeing Nazi Germany

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the star Democratic congresswoman-elect from New York, compared migrant caravan members who clashed over the weekend with U.S. border agents to Jewish families fleeing Nazi Germany and other targets of genocide.

Ocasio-Cortez, who was elected to represent New York’s 14th Congressional District earlier this month, tweeted over the weekend in support of those attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border. She compared those fleeing violence in Central America to those who escaped Germany, Rwanda and Syria.

“Asking to be considered a refugee & applying for status isn’t a crime. It wasn’t for Jewish families fleeing Germany. It wasn’t for targeted families fleeing Rwanda. It wasn’t for communities fleeing war-torn Syria. And it isn’t for those fleeing violence in Central America,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted late Sunday.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., fired back at the incoming freshman lawmaker on Monday, recommending she study the "differences" between Nazi Germany and the migrant caravan in Mexico.

"I recommend she take a tour of the Holocaust Museum in DC. Might help her better understand the differences between the Holocaust and the caravan in Tijuana," Graham tweeted.

Divine protection or elephant balls?

Salvini takes dig at organized crime … by wrecking mafia villa

Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini wants voters to know that he’s tough on crime: And what better way to demonstrate this trait than to help flatten the former home of a mafia clan?

Donning a white hardhat, Salvini used a demolition vehicle to take the ceremonial first swipe at a luxury villa illegally built in Rome by the Casamonica mob family. Obviously there was plenty of media present to document the unorthodox demolition job.

A Ruptly video shows the minister mounting the machine, and with the help of an unidentified gentleman in camouflage, tenderly scrapping off a small chunk of roof tile from the top of the home. The real demolition work, it seems, was left to the professionals – once the camera crews left, of course.

While it was a rather conspicuous photo op, Salvini, who heads the right-wing League party, seems to have had fun with it. Dubbed “the Captain” by his supporters, the minister posted on Twitter a video of him aboard the digger that declared: “The captain activates the bulldozer!”

Newsweek Publishes Propaganda From Actual SPY Attempting to Gain Support for Prosecution of Julian Assange

Newsweek isn’t even being discreet about their embrace of outright Deep State propaganda anymore.

On Saturday, the increasingly-irrelevant outlet published an article from actual intelligence agency spy Naveed Jamali, in which he attempts to gain support for the prosecution of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

“Like many current and former members of the intelligence community, I’ve been frustrated by the unwillingness of our government to act against Assange and Wikileaks,” Jamali admits in his ranting article.

Caitlin Johnstone reports:

“Jamali is currently a reserve intelligence officer for the United States Navy, and is a former FBI asset and double agent. He is also like many intelligence community insiders an MSNBC contributor, and is a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, a think tank which has featured many prominent neoconservative war whores like Donald and Frederick Kagan, Max Boot, and James Woolsey. Any think tank with the words ‘foreign policy’ in its title is nothing other than a group of intellectuals who are paid by plutocrats to come up with the best possible arguments for why it would be very good and smart to do things that are very evil and stupid, and Naveed Jamali sits comfortably there.”

Jamali’s op-ed, titled ‘Prosecuting Assange is Essential for Restoring Our National Security,’ argues that Assange is not a journalist. Amazing, considering the fact that the damn thing was written by a spy masquerading as a journalist.

Assange is an award-winning publisher who has provided more insight into the internal workings of governments around the world than any legacy media outlet. Though his methods may be unique, all journalists rely on leaks, scoops and secrets to do their reporting. He just happens to be better at it than anyone else.

As Matt Taibbi recently wrote in a must read op-ed for Rolling Stone, “There’s already a lot we don’t know about our government’s unsavory clandestine activities on fronts like surveillance and assassination, and such a case would guarantee we’d know even less going forward. Long-term questions are hard to focus on in the age of Trump. But we may look back years from now and realize what a crucial moment this was.”

The Newsweek propaganda piece additionally argues that the US government should be allowed to keep any secrets that they want from the US public.

“And really that’s the only thing these paid manipulators are ever telling you when they smear Assange or argue for his prosecution: powerful people need to be able to lie to you and hide information from you without being inconvenienced or embarrassed by WikiLeaks. If they say it often enough and in a sufficiently confident tone, some trusting, well-intentioned people will overlook the fact that this is an intensely moronic thing for anyone to believe,” Johnstone argued.

Second US Navy SEAL charged with war crime cover-up in Iraq

A Navy SEAL commander was charged on Tuesday with failing to act against Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher, a decorated US medic and sniper currently under investigation for committing war crimes in Iraq in 2017.

Platoon commander Lieutenant Jacob Portier is facing seven charges under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, including “dereliction of duty”, after reportedly being made aware of extrajudicial executions committed by Gallagher, but failing to report the incidents.

After his latest tour fighting Daesh in Iraq, Gallagher had been named the top platoon leader in SEAL Team 7 and nominated for the Silver Star, the military’s third-highest honour. Yet a different picture was painted at a two-day hearing last week, where prosecutors presented testimonies from Gallagher’s colleagues who described his behaviour during his deployment last year as reckless and bloodthirsty.

A veteran of seven previous operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, Gallagher reportedly fired into civilian crowds, gunned down an Iraqi girl walking along a riverbank and an old man carrying a water jug, threatening to kill fellow SEALs if they reported his actions.

“Every single sniper in the platoon said he was not a good sniper,” Special Agent Joe Warpinski of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service told the military court.

Some fellow officers were reportedly so fearful of Gallagher’s behaviour that they even tried to tamper with his sniper rifle to make it less accurate, and developed a habit of firing warning shots to scare away Iraqi civilians so the chief would not have a chance to shoot them.

The 39-year-old officer is also accused of killing a fighter, who was aged between 12 and 17, who had been captured and wounded by Iraqi forces in Mosul. Navy investigators said that one SEAL medic was kneeling over the fighter’s head, treating him, when Gallagher walked up and, without saying a word, took out a handmade knife and stabbed the teenager several times in the neck and side.

Members of the platoon then posed for photos with Gallagher as he held the teenager’s head up by the hair with one hand, and held his knife in the other. He reportedly later sent the photo to a colleague with the message: “I got him with my hunting knife.”

Lieutenant Portier is accused of having known about the incident and not taking action against the US army chief. In April this year a criminal investigation was finally opened after some officers reported the execution to senior leadership.

If found guilty, Gallagher could serve a life sentence for obstruction of justice, premeditated murder, attempted murder, drug possession and almost 12 other offenses, including “bringing discredit upon the armed forces”.

Gallagher’s defence team have dismissed the accusations as lies invented by the accused’s colleagues out of jealousy.

On the photos taken alongside the dead Mosul teenager, lawyer Phillip Stackhouse told the court that posing with the corpses was a common feature of many US military expeditions: “These types of pictures are not unique; they’ve been in every Iraq case I’ve ever done.”

In September, after prosecutors complained to the Navy of efforts being made by Gallagher to intimidate witnesses, the chief was arrested and put in pre-trial confinement, where he remains awaiting further procedures.
