Kamala is an ass, and she makes Dems look bad. Her presidential hopes are realistically gone after the show she put on vs. Kavanaugh. If that's skilled questioning, then what they want is perjury traps rather than anything substantive. That's what the Dems are about these days.
The big news is that the R's get another seat. So now if one R vote "flakes out", they can still pass nominees through the committee. It doesn't matter which Dem leaves, they all vote the same anyway.
If the Dems want to expend their credibility unsuccessfully lobbying McConnell to expand the committee yet again, that's their choice.
