Allow Americans to ‘Opt Out’ of Abortion and War – Ron Paul

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently released proposed rules allowing individuals to opt out of Obamacare’s abortion and contraception mandates for moral or religious reasons. These new rules should be cheered by all who agree with Thomas Jefferson that forcing people to subsidize that which they find abhorrent is “sinful and tyrannical.”

Sadly, Congress continues to pass, and President Trump continues to sign, spending bills subsidizing abortion providers. When government gives taxpayer money to abortion providers, it forces anti-abortion taxpayers to fund something they believe is murder. This is every bit as “sinful and tyrannical” as forcing health plans to pay for abortion and contraception.

If Congress is going to continue giving taxpayer dollars to abortion providers, then it should at least find a way to protect those with moral or religious objections to abortion from subsidizing the practice with their tax dollars. Creating a special fund for the taxes of those who object to abortion and ensuring money in that fund is not used to subsidize abortion providers would help ensure that anti-abortion taxpayers are no longer directly subsidizing what they believe is the murder of unborn children. However, it would force pro-life taxpayers to indirectly subsidize abortion because money is fungible. So, if the government used money from the pro-life taxpayers to increase spending on programs that do not subsidize abortion, it would be able to use a greater percentage of the taxes collected from other taxpayers to fund abortionists.

A better way to protect anti-abortion taxpayers is to give them an expanded charitable tax credit. Pro-life taxpayers could use the credit to support crisis pregnancy centers and other charities that help pregnant women and new mothers. This approach would increase funding to private charities, while ensuring that, since the plan reduces government revenue, anti-abortion taxpayers are neither directly nor indirectly subsidizing abortions.

Illegal Immigration Under Trump On Track to Hit Highest Level in a Decade

Illegal immigration at the United States-Mexico border is expected to hit the highest level in a decade next year, as border-crossings surged to record levels last month.

Last month, illegal immigration at the southern border soured to the highest level for a single month since April 2014, marking the most southwest border crossings since President Trump was elected in 2016 on a platform to reduce immigration to the country.

The record illegal immigration outpaced projections from Princeton Researcher Steven Kopits, who expected about 31,575 border crossings last month. The actual border crossings exceeded those expectations by almost 40 percent.

The southwest border numbers, according to Kopits’ research, indicate that Fiscal Year 2019 will see the highest level of illegal immigration at the southern border in more than a decade.

In total, Kopits projects that there will be more than 600,000 border crossings next year — a level of illegal immigration that the country has not seen since Fiscal Year 2008 when total southwest border apprehensions exceeded 705,000.

US Condemns Russia’s Seizure of Ukrainian Ships

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has criticized Russia’s seizure of Ukrainian naval vessels, calling it an “outrageous violation of sovereign Ukrainian territory.”

Speaking at an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council on Nov. 26, Haley said the move was “another reckless Russian escalation” in the years-long war. Haley noted that she spoke to President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo before making the statement.

“Sunday’s outrageous violation of sovereign Ukrainian territory is part of a pattern of Russian behavior that includes the purported annexation of Crimea and abuses against countless Ukrainians in Crimea, as well as stoking conflict that has taken the lives of more than 10,000 people in eastern Ukraine. And it shows no sign of decreasing,” Haley said.

According to Ukraine, Russian military boats fired at a pair of Ukrainian navy vessels and a tugboat on Nov. 25. The Russians rammed at least one vessel and wounded several Ukrainian crew members. Ukraine claims six people were wounded; Russia reported three injuries. The seized Ukrainian boats were towed to a nearby port.

The skirmish transpired in the strategically significant Kerch Strait, where a Kremlin-built bridge connects Russia to the southeastern portion of Ukraine that’s occupied by Russia-backed forces.

PM: Israel improving ties around world without having to concede settlements

Amid visits of friendly leaders and reports of new diplomatic channels with Arab countries, Netanyahu says country’s strength means deal with Palestinians no longer prerequisite

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday said recent signs of a diplomatic flourishing for Israel were occurring without Jerusalem having to make any concessions on West Bank settlements, as he celebrated the visit of Chad’s leader after decades of ruptured ties.

Israel has also recently ramped up contacts with a number of Arab countries that, until recently, had shunned any appearance of even informal ties with the Jewish state. Reports Sunday indicated Israel was working toward establishing diplomatic channels with Sudan and Bahrain.

Most Arab countries insist Israel must reach a peace deal with the Palestinians before any normalization can take place. But in recent years attitudes in some parts of the region have seemingly shifted, and Netanyahu said Israel was forging ahead with the ties despite West Bank settlements continuing to grow and peace talks being stagnant.

Mueller Claims Manafort Breached Plea Deal by Lying to Investigators

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is on a rampage and he won’t stop until everybody who helped elect Donald Trump goes bankrupt and ends up behind bars.

Mueller is now accusing Trump’s former campaign Chairman Paul Manafort of breaching his plea deal by lying to investigators.

Special counsel Robert Mueller is accusing former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort of violating the plea deal he agreed to earlier this year by repeatedly lying to prosecutors and FBI agents during recent debriefing sessions.

In a report filed with a federal judge Monday evening, Mueller’s office alleged that Manafort “committed federal crimes by lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Counsel’s Office on a variety of subject matters.“ Prosecutors said the alleged lies leave Manafort exposed to the possibility of a more severe prison sentence under federal guidelines, but they did not elaborate on what exactly he allegedly lied about.

Manafort’s defense team said: “He believes he has provided truthful information“ and tried to “live up to his cooperation obligations.“

Mueller’s prosecutors rested their case in August on day 10 of the bank fraud and tax evasion trial against Paul Manafort which played out in an Alexandria, VA courtroom.

The corrupt Obama-appointed judge Amy Berman Jackson threw Manafort into solitary confinement while he awaited his trial even though he posted an $11.65 million bail package.

Manafort appeared in a wheelchair in a courtroom in October where he learned he will be sentenced in February.

Judge T.S. Ellis dismissed the 10 charges on which the jury was unable to reach a verdict during the trial over the summer.

Mueller’s prosecutors were able to bring those charges back had Manafort not cooperated in the meantime–which is exactly what it looks like Mueller’s strategy is here by claiming Manafort lied.
