Fourth Annual CIC Gala Dinner, November 2010
On November 15, 2010, the CIC was delighted to honour Mr. George Soros, Chair of the Soros Fund Management LLC and Founder of the Open Society Foundations, with the 2010 Globalist of the Year Award.
Not sure about Hartley Richardson or Peter Munk, but Jim Balsillie (BlackBerry) and David Dodge (former Bank of Canada governor) would have been easily recognizable to leafanons 8 years ago.
Other easily recognizables include Jim Flaherty (former Canadian finance minister) and Mark Carney (another former Bank of Canada governor).
Was really surprised in Toronto of all places.
She got greedy and went for the money instead of the optics. Should have gone for a smaller venue that she would have easily sold out. There are lots of theatres in Toronto where the crowd might have looked impressive and resulted in lots of fawning footage from Toronto's version of mockingbird media.
Or maybe she thought she would sell it out?
