"But if Hyde-Smith wins, that will have another effect that Democrats are trying to avoid. If she wins, they lose a seat on the Judiciary Committee and that seat on the Committee flips red.
That means ordinarily the most junior Democrat on the Committee would get dropped.
But the most junior member is Sen. Kamala Harris who has been using the Judiciary Committee as a platform to audition for her 2020 bid.
