The US is plenty strong as it is. We kill everyone Israel tells us to currently, and we would be strong enough to do that with or without California. If we were weaker, much weaker, perhaps we wouldn't be so strong that we have to engage in all of Israels wars for them.
We need to be strong enough to keep foreign invaders from coming up across the Mexico border. Somehow, we're not doing that though.
