You've got it from the Mad Dog himself, Putin is not to be trusted. He's not a white hat. He's a Putin Hat. He's in it for Putin and Russia. So long as we operate in a way that benefits Putin and Russia, Putin will assist. But don't for a minute think he's a good guy.
Northern Sea port is probably multi-purpose. Probably military. Probably also a hedge against global warming. Warming oceans and less sea ice means Russias MASSIVE northern coast is more economically feasible as a means of shipping and receiving goods.
