Dig on Chongqin China. I looked at companies based there, and there aren't many. But one stood out—Chongqing Iron & Steel.
It has many subsidiaries, but nothing notable.
Then I read this article from 2017- https://www.caixinglobal.com/2017-12-01/struggling-steelmaker-forges-new-management-team-with-rivals-personnel-101179052.html
"Hit by falling demand in recent years, Chongqing Iron & Steel, which is also listed in Hong Kong, reported a net loss of 998.48 million yuan ($151 million) in the first half of 2017 — an improvement from its net loss of 1.79 billion yuan in the same period last year.
Earlier this year, the company warned it could face bankruptcy while it restructures. But it later said some investors, including Baowu Steel Group and WL Ross & Co., were “optimistic” about the company’s revamp."
So I looked into WL Ross & Co. They're a subsidiary of INVESCO. https://www.invesco.com/corporate/about-us/board-of-directors I don't know where I've heard this name before, but I have. One of their executives, Ben Johnson, works at Alston & Bird, which also makes my almonds tingle.
Anyway, could be nothing. But if someone in the cabal stayed in Chongqin, they had a reason.
