That was a laser…it may or may not have been visible to the naked eye. Your TV remote is a great example of an IR emitter being invisible to the eye, but easily seen with a camera.
IR lasers work very much the same…invisible to the eye, but seen clearly with electronics…these videos are recorded electronically.
