Those promotional skills have him in a wee bit of trouble with the Securities and Exchange Commission, though, as Mayweather has been fined $600,000 for the work he did touting initial coin offerings, or ICOs.
Mayweather did not disclose that he had received $300,000 for the cryptocurrency promotion, from a total of three ICO issuers. The SEC's policy is in place so the public is aware if a recommendation is unbiased or not.
The former pound-for-pound boxing king promoted the ICOs via social media. Mayweather has more than 8 million followers on Twitter.
Mayweather will pay the $300,000 he received, an additional $300,000 fine, plus interest.
Music producer DJ Khaled also was fined $150,000 by the SEC
