I was brought up among those ideas. By age 25 I had pretty fully extricated myself from them, but I don't have guilt feelings about the years before. Granted I was repelled by some of the weirder stuff I saw in leftist culture and that could be a tell – others might have been attracted by those things maybe? – but still Dems include many who could be reasoned with. Typically if it's helpful to them personally, meaning illegal aliens aren't worth bothering with, because their only future is with Dems, better to expel them.
